Guest guest
Hi Caroline: I love hummus, a basic hummas is chickpeas, mashed with tahini, olive oil, garlic, cilantro or parsley. There are different ways of making hummas. I like it as a sandwich spread on a bagel or wrap and sometimes I use it as a salad dressing. enjoy gayle
Guest guest
hi caroline, welcome to the group. i love hummus and make it often. sometimes we just eat it with toasted pita bread or tortilla chips and raw veggies (like carrots, celery, jicama, cucumbers). i always serve hummus with falafel. i also love hummus as a sandwich spread. i spread hummus on toasted bread or a tortilla/wrap and layer on sliced avocado, cucumber, tomato, black olives, and lettuce. it's great. hummus is really easy to make. we have many tried and true hummus recipes in our files. some are even made with beans (beans are also a good source of iron) other than chickpeas. http://tinyurl.com/r9omg hope this helps, susie --- Caroline <jocella1 wrote: > Good Afternoon everyone and Happy Easter. Guest guest
Warm welcome to the group, Caroline. We are glad to have you join us and will be sure to give you plenty of inspiration for vegetarian meals if that is what you want. Just check out our files which are full of wonderful tried and true recipes. Hummus is so versatle and you can adjust the flavors and textures when you make your own, by adding stir-in ingredients and changing which type of bean you use. Anything goes! Check out the dips and spreads folder in the files for more ideas. Like Gayle already said, you can use hummus for sandwich spreads, wrap fillers, and salad dressings, as well as being wonderful just as a simple dip. Most everyone loves hummus so it is a great healthy item to bring to any party or gathering. i've been munching hummus since the 70s! *lol* Again, great to have you here with us. Feel free to jump in and ask any questions as they come up. Someone is sure to have an idea or answer for you. Share some of your favorite vegetarian recipes, too... when you get a chance. ~ pt ~ The idea of enlightenment is of utmost importance.Ê Just to know that there is such a possibility changes one's entire outlook.Ê It acts like a burning match in a heap of sawdust. Guest guest
Its been a while since I returned to this site but I would like to thank those who responded to my question. I just bought some hummus...regular kind and the garlic flavored and bought these whole wheat crunchy crackers...never heard of the brand but it has an Asian name. I had a few crackers and hummus and loved the taste. Maybe I will make my own hummus and get creative. Thanks again for the responses, Have a great morning.
