If yousleep on the right side it will definitely keep you awake. Huh? Sleeping on the right helps, but keeps you awake? I'm confused. I'm a right side sleeper, so I'm very interested in this. I didn't see most of the thread, I'll try and go back tonight after the kids are in bed. AmyF

Guest guest
I certainly believe that. I am an insomniac for life, I sleep better on the right but still only for a few hours of sleep each night. Guest guest
If I sleep on my right I get horible headaches. When I fall asleep and trn over on my right I have dreams of having a headache which wakes me up and I find myself sleeping on my right - and of course with a headache! I've tried massages before bed and they used to help, but not any more. The headaches (I am almost positive) have to do with my sinuses, and I have been working with my oriental medicine doctor - some remedies work and then stop, and then some don't work at all. I also can't lay on my stomach because of my asthma - so it's only on my left side and on my back. Which only adds to my problems. It also helps that my regular doctor is hindu so she always works with me regarding my oriental medicine doctor - she dimisses nothing. Guest guest
Elizabeth The reason I said to sleep on the right side is for 2 reasons. We all breathe predominately through one nostril. Every 2 1/2 hours a normal person will switch the breath to the opposite side so that side will be the dominant side. If one lays on the right side, then the left side will become the dominant side automatically in a few minutes. Breathing throught the leftnosril will relax a person and breathing through the right side wil energize a person. Also, laying on the right side will tend to relax the digestive organs and make it easier to sleep. So something else is going on with you. I would need a lot more information to help you. I do wellness consultations off list. These consist of individual programs to enhance health of the body, mind and spirit. It includes diet, supplements, exercise program, yoga therapymeditation and other things to meet people's needs. In your case yoga and Ayuurveda have specific things to help sinuses and wellness.
