Guest guest
This is an easy one Diane..... take your favourite box mix of brownies ( or your own recipe if you prefer to avoid the mixes) and add 1/4 of a tsp of cayenne pepper or the like. Any finely ground hot chili pepper will do. I have only used cayenne myself- and it has been a few years- as my dh doesn't like that tingle. And now my 2 yo would complain too if I did a whole batch with ****tingle**** That's all you are really looking for is this lovely 'tingle' on your tongue once you have chewed a little bit or maybe even swallowed it- and then *oooh*, it tingles! <giggle> You might want to experiment with only an eighth tsp if you are not sure how you will like it- then adjust on the next batch....and likely there *will* be a next batch cos they are oh so addictive. Mix and bake as directed.......and ENJOY! Sharon in SA <who is missing the Tim Tams ( biscuit/cookies) they made for a limited timehere in AU that were chocolate cookies with a chocolate hot-spiced cream filling, all dipped into a chocolate coating. Not healthy for you food- but hey there was only 9 in the pack and I would make it last a long time! > - " strayfeather1 " <otherbox2001 Re: TNT brownies ? > Brownies with something hot? Guest guest
I use a basic brownie mix, and add 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder (available at Penzeys). The smokiness of the chipotle works well with the chocolate. You can also add a little to the frosting, if you frost your brownies. strayfeather1 <otherbox2001 Wednesday, May 10, 2006 12:32:05 AM Re: TNT brownies ? Brownies with something hot? Sounds yummy! Guest guest
Sharon, you would enjoy Chuao here!!! They make hot chocolate, and chocolate bars, with pasilla and cayenne in them. And one of the local dessert places makes " Firecracker Brownies " with cayenne and another chili, and a chocolate mousse with chipotle chili.
