Folks,

This is very oriental and my sister have been pushing me to make it.

I am told by my sister that the meat has been excluded on this recipe.

The Chinese usually include meat in the ingredients.

I made this today and it is delicious but " very time consuming " :-(

Warning.

-------

The Glutinous Rice have to be soak overnight, preferably.

The Bamboo Leaves have to be boil to make it nice and supple for wrapping

the Chung later.

If you add Chilli Sauce (or Chilli Oil/Powder), it becomes a spicy

vegetarian food.

A touch of Tumeric powder added adds colour to the rice and makes it more

interesting.

People with young kids -best not add chillis but you can eat it servedwith

chilli sauce :-)

Ingredients.

-----------

1Kg Glutinous Rice(soak it overnight)

A Bunch of dry Bamboo Leaves(soak it overnight)

Dry Roasted Peanuts(1Kg) - (smashed it up finely)

Dry Chinese Mushroom(a handful, soaked and chopped finely)

Dry Wooden Ears(a handful, soaked and chopped finely)

1 Medium Aubergine(optional)or french beans

2 Spoonful Soya Sauce

1 large onions(chopped finely)

3 Large Garlic Cloves(chopped finely

Some Cooking Oil

Method.

------

Heat oil in the wok(or use Donna's favourite Casting Pan) :-)

Fry the chopped onoins and Garlic to golden brown.

Add the Wooden-Ears and Mushroom and aubergine( or your favourite beans)and

the peanuts.

Cook it till done and add the Soya Sauce to finish.

Spread the mixture out on a flat plate so that it cools quickly.

Clear the table.

Make yourself a coffee and have a rest( you will need this rest, honest),lol

:-)

But before you do that, boil a contaner of hot water

Preparation Time ( this is the most difficult part)

------------------

Boil a container of water and soak the Bamboo Leaves, till the leaves is

nice and soft(supple).

Take it out and let it cool slowly and put it on a colander so that the

water is allowed to drip out.

Pour the overnight soaked Glutinous Rice onto a colander and let the water

drip out.

Now, place the cooked mixture on the clean table with the bamboo leaves and

the Glutinous Rice.

Sit down with a bamboo leaf in your hand and fold it into an " upside-down

pyramid " .

Now scoop a spoon of Glutinous Riceinto the updide down pyramid, maintaining

the cupped-shape.

Next, put a spoonful of that lovely mixture on top of the Rice.

Finally, one last spoon of Rice to cover that spoonful of mixture you just

put into the pyramid.

Now fold the bamboo leaf over slowly and wrap the leaf round like a true

Pyramid shape.

Tie the pyramid with string and do the next one, and the next and the next,

you get the drift now?

String - I cut about a dozen 18-inches lengths and tie them together at one

end( look like ocptopus ).

You just need to boil the completed pyramids, till the rice is cook and you

can enjoy it.

You can enjoy this cold or warm or while it is still hot, no problem.

Cut one into half to check if it is cook :-)

Who wants to be the first to take this challenge ?

If I can do it, anyone can - don't be afraid, go for it :-)

Best Wishes,

Wee
