Guest guest
Good morning Group, Does anyone know where I can get corn husks from organically grown corn? I want to make tamales again but would love to make them totally organic. Smiles and hugs Deanna
Guest guest
Hi Deanna, I don't know, I get a big bag at the Mexican market but they don't say organic on the label. Did you join the new Mexican vegetarian group that just started? Many of us did and I'm co-owner. You can ask over there. Click here to join cocina-mexiveg/ If you ask that group you might find an immediate answer. Happy Holiday, are you going to make tamales? Guest guest
Donna, The last corn husks that I bought were from Walmart. Imported from Mexico and I am sure they are not organic. I will call my local health food market and ask if they can give some to me. I plan to make tamales again. I was very pleased with my first 'experiment'. They tasted wonderful but weren't too pretty if you know what I mean. Guest guest
Practice makes perfect. My first batch were so small and odd shaped, I didn't know how to handle all the hot peppers and my figers bured for a week, I could dare to wear my contacts. I had an Egyptian friend try to teach me how to roll grape leaves, now those things are too much like doing arts and crafts so I give up. I need to roll up a big old hangin' tortilla with stuffing, that's more my speed..........D genny_y2k <genny_y2k wrote: Donna, The last corn husks that I bought were from Walmart. Guest guest
You can use plastic gloves (like nurses and doctors use) when you handle the peppers.
