Guest guest
Question - what would I replace the butter sticks with in cookie recipes? I don't want to use hydrogenated stuff, is there any margarine *sticks* that aren't hydrogenated? Or something else I can use?
Guest guest
Yes, there are margarine sticks that you can use in cooking. Imperial is one of them. Guest guest
We use Smart Balance Light for all our baking. It is found near the butter and margarine. It is in tubs and has no hydrogenated oils/transfat. It tastes wonderful. We use it in on baked potatoes, corn on the cob, toast, etc also. It is reasonably priced. They also make cooking oil that has no transfat/hydrogenated oil and shortening. The Smart Balance - regular has some dairy, but not the the Light. We recently found Smart Balance Light with Flax Seed Oil. Love that stuff and also use it in baking. Judy - Katrina Eckert Sunday, May 28, 2006 1:10 PM Vegan cookies? Guest guest
Thank you very much to those who helped answer my question about substituting butter. Will look the next time I'm at the store. My becoming vegan wasn't planned, it just happened so this is a relief lol! I'd already learned from this group about sprinkling nutritional yeast flakes on top of my food the way I used to do with cheese, that actually worked well.
