Guest guest
Donna, I agree. I still eat butter, sea salt and cane sugar. My cholesterol, blood pressure, etc.are normal. I am on no meds and as you know have been Vegetarian for 20+ yrs. I am convinced that neither salt nor butter is harmful.(to me anyway LOL) I did stop eating cheese when I learned that renet is used to make it coagulate..Yikes that seems to be a nasty word..LOL I eat organic butter knowing that the dairy cows on these farms are treated humanely and fed on animal by- products. I would never encourage others to change their diet in any way just as I know you don't. I love food, love preparing and eating it and I cannot imagine the taste without the compliments of butter, salt and sugar. I also love so many types of herbs and spices that also inhance the taste of so many foods. Not that they are not yummy on their own but if one has no alergies or health issues then why not eat them. PS my weight is also in the normal range. I never diet and do not own scales. Sending smiles and hugs your way Deanna , Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > > I have never found a sub. for butter that I like, taste is very important to me. Being that my cholesterol is somewhere around 139, sugar is low, blood pressure runs abput 115/64 most of the time, I'm not about to give up butter, salt and I love my sugar but I have cut down. Dairy I miss but I have cow's milk allergy and you learn to adjust when you have an allergy, not lactose intolerant. Funny that ghee and butter don't bother me though. > I enjoy making the taste of loaves and patties compared to the burgers sold. It was the pus cell count in cheese, let alone the fat and hormones concentrated, that pretty much stopped me. Even now, reading some of the recipes posted here calling for so much cheese, eggs, and butter (clarified butter, ghee, is a major contributer to the rising heart attack rates in domestic Indian communities, btw) cause me to mentally shudder. > Tastes change over time, though, and I remember thinking a grilled veggie pizza without cheese was an abysmal concept. > > Now? Guest guest
I wasn't referring to vegan cheeses, but rather dairy cheeses that do not use animal-based rennet. The brands and/or styles for which this is the case, making them vegetarian, are listed in the link I gave below. -Erin , " genny_y2k " <genny_y2k wrote: > > Erin, > Yes, I do eat Vegan Rice cheese and other Vegetarian cheeses.
