Guest guest
Tell me what you didn't like about quinoa? Was it bitter? If so you didn't rinse it enough. Try this. Rinse the quinoa and leave in the mesh sieve to drain. Heat up a skillet with no oil and roast the quinoa before you cook it, the quinoa will put up a roasted nutty flavor. Try it again this way and let me know what you think of it. It's like raw sesame seeds vs the roasted ones. Big difference once roasted. Guest guest
No, it wasn't bitter. I did rinse it (thankfully the recipe told me to or I might not have). I didn't like it's texture. It's almost like chewing poppy seeds. But poppy seeds with a softer center. I'm going to give it some time, though, and I will try your technique. That stuff is full of protein, so maybe I'll develop a taste for it. In this recipe they are cooked in vegie broth, so the taste is altered from their regular taste and it wasn't particularly nutty. Funny side note. My kids hate quinoa, which their dad has prepared for them. So they weren't happy to see it in the grocery bag. Though my 11-year-old taught me how to properly say it - she enjoyed that. All these years I've been saying kwin-O-ah, cause that's how it's spelled! My daughter informed me that it's KEEN-wah. I now say it properly, but in my head it's still kwin-O-ah. :-) Sharon Donnalilacflower wrote: > Tell me what you didn't like about quinoa?
