Guest guest
I've been doing it for several months now; my G'pa told me he does it. I never leave it unattended and so far, no trouble. I like it for late at night because it's quieter than the air popper and I always burn it when I do it in oil on the stove lol. I don't put any oil or anything in the bag with the popcorn. My own paranoia makes me never re-use a bag for this in case it's a little scorched. hth Peace, Diane , " Rishari " <Rishari wrote: > > Diane, > I am just wondering- is there anything special that you do or don't do to pop corn in your microwave? > I have always read that doing it that way can cause a fire due to the bag overheating...so I never have- but have wanted to try it. > > Curious in SA, > Sharon
Guest guest
Thanks Diane! I think the only thing i need to know is what sort of paper bag do you do the popcorn in? Is it a brown paper lunchsack sort of thing?? ( average micro popcorn bag size) And what about closing it up so the popcorn doesn't escape? Sorry if I am being dense. Guest guest
Not dense - I didn't even believe my G'pa when he first told me lol Stood by my micro waiting for it to blow up. I just use a regular brown lunch bag. I put a quarter cup of popcorn in the bag and fold it over about halfway down and set it on its bottom in the micro. I have a really old micro - not even a bell or dinger or any push buttons, just a dial So I don't know how its power level compares to mod ones where you can set that. If you experiement, I suggest watching VERY carefully and being ready to jerk open the door and yank that puppy out, just in case. But I can always smell when the popcorn is starting to scorch. I let it go about 4 1/2 minutes and sometimes it's still a tiny bit browned but I like that. This method leaves more unpopped than an air popper though .
