Guest guest
This is a great recipe. I was given soy milk with a tablespoon of coffee growing up and sitting at the adult table. I don't drink coffee, never cared for the flavor. I think my sister would be better off with this recipe, she will let the kids drink very weak coffee with milk so this would be a healthy alternative with no caffeine and the kids could still drink out of their coffee mugs. Guest guest
I agree. I never ate not even one candy cigarette and yet I smoked as an adult. My sister had a candy cigarette hanging out of her mouth all the time and my Mom had a fit, she has never smoked one real cigarette in her life. It's like the plastic fake razors, little boys want to shave like Dad. They watch us and learn, I don't think having a pretend coffee it bad, it's like little girls playing with dolls, etc. It's all pretend, like watching cartoons, kids know animals don't drive cars and talk but they love watching cartoons and seeing this. --- Sarah Zlimen <belmonte25 wrote: > ;-) sometimes whether you want them to or not, kids > want to 'share' and be like there parents! > my daughter loves 'poffee' and i'd rather she had > something like this, thats a bit healthy.,..instead > of real coffee! > > > diana scott <dianascot_33 wrote: > Why not leave it alone and let him grow up not > desiring to drink coffee? Guest guest
True - I usually make him hot chocolate or something while we sit around the table on weekends. You make a good point and he is certainly the last person on this earth who needs more energy!
Guest guest
My daughter is 15 and she sneaks coffee from my pot on the weekends. It started out like my son - wanting to be like mom! My daughter is more into the frozen coffee's you can get a starbux thgough. I think thats more of a teenage thing, ya know, they want to be like grown ups but don't like the grown up taste of hot coffee! , Sarah Zlimen <belmonte25 wrote: > > ;-) sometimes whether you want them to or not, kids want to 'share' and be like there parents! > my daughter loves 'poffee' and i'd rather she had something like this, thats a bit healthy.,..instead of real coffee! > > > diana scott <dianascot_33 wrote: > Why not leave it alone and let him grow up not > desiring to drink coffee? Guest guest
When my kids were little they would get coffee milk. Which was a spoonful of my coffee which was mixed with milk mixed into a glass of milk. I don't think if really had any coffee flavor. gayle
Guest guest
-How about Postum? It is caffeine free and tastes very much like coffee. Also there are so many different flavored caffeine teas that most kids love. Mine used to ask for " sleepy time tea " before bedtime. Guest guest
It seems to me that giving children pretend coffee is just encouraging them to drink it. They'll most likely keep on pretending until they start drinking it. Pretty soon they'll be mainlining it. Seriously, It has some uses but I would not call it a health food. It is definitely vegetarian though. I think that the best thing to do it give them a big sip. Almost all kids hate the taste. My parents did that with their 6 kids and only one drinks coffee now. I still can't stand the taste. GB Re: Kids Pretend Coffee recipe -How about Postum? It is caffeine free and tastes very much like coffee. Guest guest
--- I'm not sure about kids all hating coffee. A big sip of black espresso, maybe. But I see many kids in Starbucks, ordering their own lattes, etc. I take no issue with adults drinking coffee, but an 8 year old who knows what kind of coffee they want to order seems too much! melissa p
Guest guest
OMG! yes, that is a lot much. my wee ones know it's an occasion when they get decaf tea, lol. Guest guest
My kids have never had the yearning for drinking coffee, as regular coffee anyway. I occasionally will purchase a cappuccino and they think of it more like a flavored hot chocolate.... but I do limit them on these things. My husband and I both drink coffee, but my kids have never asked for any or even to try any. My mom used to let us drink coffee but she always made it with more milk than coffee and some sugar. Not sure if that's why I drink mine black now.. LOL By the way, My name is Wanda, I am a newbie here. My husband and I will celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary this month and we have two beautifu daughters. We live in Pasadena Texas (just outside of Houston). I am looking for vegetable recipes that I can hopefully get my kiddos to eat without having to blend them in the blender and use for liquids in my recipes.. LOL ... Guest guest
Melissa, Yes, I was refering to giving children a large sip of black coffee. This way they will taste the true thing with no masks like sugar and cream or milk or even soy milk. Children like sugar and milk so trying it with those things seems like an inducement to like the real thing. Many herbal remedies are given with honey or a sweetener to make the medicine taste somewhat bearable and even likable. Let them try the real thing. That way we will not have arms toting 5 year olds holding up 7 Elevens to get their caffeine fix. :>) GB Re: Kids Pretend Coffee recipe --- I'm not sure about kids all hating coffee.
