Guest guest
HI Kathy: We are all glad to help, The only other vegetarian I know is my daughter, my husband and son are not vegetarian. One thing I did when I was a new vegetarian was take cookbooks out of the library, I would read them cover to cover and then try different recipes. Some were keepers and some were not. Remember to browse the recipe files there are tons of recipes all tried and true. If you have any other questions please ask someone will either know or know where to get the answer. Guest guest
Melissa, Angela, GB, Amy, and Gayle, Thanks for answering my questions. You were very helpful. I've now added nutritional yeast, miso, hummus, and swhey - I mean soy yogurt to my shopping list. It would be nice if the folks at Whole Foods were as helpful as all of you. The store is so busy, long lines, and I have never found anyone in the bulk section to ask questions of. Although each bin is labeled with ingredients and nutritional information, there's no information on how anything was prepared nor how to cook it. I wish they would put all of this information on their website because once I get home with 25 bulk bags, I have forgotten all the details about protein, fats, etc. Just the same, I love to shop there because it's such an adventure. I just found out about a produce co-op a few blocks from my office. It's run by vegetarians, the produce is local, and lots of it is organic. I'm going to join and see how it works. Who knows, I might make a friend. The truth is, I personally know no other vegetarians. Sometimes I feel like an island in a carnivorous sea. Obviously, it's time to expand my horizons. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I do the same thing when I have lots of bulk bags. I've had to call the store & ask some nice person to look up whether #908063 is regular flour or cake flour because I can't tell once I get it home. lol So now I've taken to writing not only the item on the little bulk tag but also any nutritional info; I just scribble in my own personal shorthand but I know what it says when I get home. Good luck with the produce co-op; organics taste SO much better, especially things with high water content like cucumbers & apples! Peace, Diane > > I wish they would put all of this information on their website > because once I get home with 25 bulk bags, I have forgotten all the > details about protein, fats, etc. Just the same, I love to shop > there because it's such an adventure. > > I just found out about a produce co-op a few blocks from my office. > It's run by vegetarians, the produce is local, and lots of it is > organic.
