Guest guest
I'm sorry, I didn't remember who sent in the recipe for " grandma's little meat pies " , I just wanted to say they are great. I forgot that the recipe called for Gimme Lean brand " fake " sausage and I used regular Boca burgers instead, chopped up and sauteed . They tasted just like cheeseburgers, I even dipped them into ketsup. I think they'd be great snacks for kids. After baking them, I could take them cold out of the frig and microwave them for 20 seconds and I had a great snack! I couldn't find the recipe in the files or the messages to reprint here. Maybe it's under a different heading. Who ever posted the recipe might like to post again now that I'm whole heartedly loving them. Now I " m going to try them with the Gimme Lean. Guest guest
Hi Jane Is this the recipe you tried? Posted by Virgil: I finally got that recipe for the little " meat " pies that my mother- in-law makes every Christmas. It is quite easy and quick, actually. Here are her directions: Brown the equivalent of about a pound of ground " meat " in a little oil. Stir in a package of dry LIPTON onion soup mix (Campbell's is made with beef stock, Lipton's isn't) and a package of shredded Cheddar cheese, either dairy or soy. Mix well, stirring constantly until cheese is melted. Roll out canned biscuits (or homemade biscuit dough) to make flat 6-8 pie shells. Place about a teaspoon of the meat mixture in the center of each. Fold over and seal edges. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 about 10-15 minutes, until light brown. This makes about 40. These are GREAT! Even the meat-eaters loved them and could not tell the difference! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> If this isn't the same recipe you tried i will look through the files to find another. This one was tucked away in the Appetizer file in the subfolder for finger foods. Hope this helps! *s* ~ pt ~ True words are not always pretty; pretty words are not always true. ~ Japanese proverb ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , " RICHARD AMP JAN Akers " < twoslim@v...> wrote: > I'm sorry, I didn't remember who sent in the recipe for " grandma's little meat pies " , I just wanted to say they are great. > I forgot that the recipe called for Gimme Lean brand " fake " sausage and I used regular Boca burgers instead, chopped up and sauteed . Guest guest
Great detective work, PT! Great memory I have, hah?!!! LOL!! I didn't copy it because it was so simple! So it was a mother-in-law recipe instead of " Grandma's " and there NEVER was a mention of Gimme Lean! Oh, well, I'm still going to try it with sausage type substitute. I really like this easy recipe. I did cut back on the Lipton soup mix because I was worried about it being too salty. These are good snacks. Thanks PT , Jane > Brown the equivalent of about a pound of ground " meat " in a little > oil.
