This was mine: Pita Pockets with brown rice and marinated vegetables. Chop into bite-size pieces any combination of salad vegetables you like. I used freshly steamed beets, celery, mushrooms, zucchini, red pepper, green onion cucumber and feta cheese. Make a simple olive oil and lemon dressing with a little salt and pepper plus any other seasonings that grab you. Into a pita pocket put in a small scoop of rice and spoon on some of the vegies with dressing. enjoy! dw
Guest guest
Hi, The last week or so I have been craving meat. To get my mind off of meat, I have been trying even more new things. I have a friend here who loves to cook. Even though she is not a vegetarian, she loves cooking veggies and will try everything. So she has been helping me with some new veggie dishes and trying new fruits ( I LOVE FRUIT). It's funny because she had me try avacado; I almost spit it across the room YUCK! However, the fresh mango was delicious LOL! Thanks for the help and concern J Lyn GeminiDragon <thelilacflower wrote: I was wondering how you were doing with meals and if you have found plenty to eat without craving meat. Guest guest
Are you back east or in an area where there aren't avocados around much? I'm in Calif and we use them in out sandwiches, salads, very common here. I know my nephew is living in Nashville now and he said they sure are not popular there and his wife has never tasted one and neither has her Mom. That's wonderful you are giving new fruits and veggies a try. I'll bet you find new dishes to satisfy your cravings. Have you been eating tofu or any of the veggie burgers or tofu dogs? Any new grains or beans in your diet yet? J Lyn <poet_atrabilious wrote: Hi, The last week or so I have been craving meat. To get my mind off of meat, I have been trying even more new things. Guest guest
HI, I am from Ohio... Avacados are available most groceries have them. However, I was never liked to try food that I thought was going to be nasty. Secondly, I hate paying money for food I may not like or don't know how to cook. So I never would unless someone let me try it first. Third and most imporant I have a think for textures. I tried the avacado ... YUCK! it just was not good for me at all! the texture, taste. I have not had tofu yet. I ate beans before just not a lot. Mostly want I have been eating is salad, spinach, rice, some of the fake meat products, stir fries, etc. I still eat eggs and dairy (in food liek bread and cakes. I stopped drink cow milk 2 months ago. And of course tons of fruit . I am still trying things though. I have not given up LOL J Lyn GeminiDragon <thelilacflower wrote: Are you back east or in an area where there aren't avocados around much? Guest guest
Glad to hear you are trying new things and great that you have a friend who is willing to help out! We have the opposite tastes though-I like avacado but can't stand mango. Do you like guacamole? If raw avacado is too much for you maybe you might like some chips and guac or a little guac thrown in some tacos/burritos?
Guest guest
HI! Actually its the texture thing. I don't liek ranch dressing,s tuffing, chip dips, etc. It is funny. I shoudl be SUPER skinny because of the stuff I don't like. Alas cookies, cake , icecream... yum LOL. Which is one reason why I love this ... I eat far less junk food and way more healthy stuff . HEy, and 20 pounds down is awesome as well! J Lyn budgiegirl2003 <budgiegirl2003 wrote: Glad to hear you are trying new things and great that you have a friend who is willing to help out! Guest guest
Thanks! Well, I like salad. Baby spinach. I started to like broccolli and carrots more. Grains I love. I still eat dairy and eggs. I also like some of the Smart Light veggie products. I tried TUNO - I was craving tuna salad... that was decent. Navy beans doctored up. I noticed that when I stopped eating meat... the other things started to taste better. Like carrots! I HATED THEM. Now the baby one's aren't so bad. Basically I am trying more veggies in different ways. I haven't tried tofu yet. Eventually. JL budgiegirl2003 <budgiegirl2003 wrote: 20lbs down is awesome! Congratulations!
