Guest guest
im sorry to be rude then but I havent yet had a vegetarian thanksgiving and am going to this upcoming year with my non veggie family. I asked a friend whos been veggie a long time and she said she just eats everything else (referring to everything other than a turkey), which makes sense to me. I imagine I would make my own dish or two to contribute, and out of their side dishes make a main dish? Sorry to ask your least favorite question (this goes out to everyone btw) but what do you do at holidays (thanksgiving, christmas, easter, etc)? If I was living alone I dont think it would be a problem but my family eats very traditional holiday meals. , " melissa_hopp " <hoppmel@c...> wrote: > I usually get...not even fish (we live in the Pacific > Northwest)...then what do you eat? > > I tell them fruits and veggies and move onto a different topic...I've > been doing this so long I just am tired of explaining...I love > discussing it when people are interested and want real info, but > otherwise it is old hat. I make a beautiful stuffed squash (for the " carving " feeling)...they treat it as a side dish; for me it's the entree. Otherwise, keep those veggie sides coming... :-)
Guest guest
That's an excellent idea! You'll have to post the recipe in the fall! > I make a beautiful stuffed squash (for the " carving " feeling)...they > treat it as a side dish; for me it's the entree. Hi, I am the one who cooks these meals with all the meat, unfortunately. I have been doing it for years and years. I started cooking them before I was a vegetarian and have just continued doing it for my family. I cook it but I don't eat it. I don't eat the stuffing in the turkey or the gravy but I eat everything else. The same goes for all holidays...I eat everything else and I make sure there are lots of sides dishes that I like! Guest guest
Hi Kay: In my family my daughter and I are vegetarian and my husband and son are not and since for Thanksgiving it is just the 4 of us my daughter and I or my husband sometimes makes a tofurky which does not taste like turkey for my daughter and I and makes a small turkey breast for him and my son. Then we make the sides which are all vegetarian. For holidays when we go to someone else's house I usually will make a lentil loaf although my daughter does not like lentil loaf. Last Passover I brought a sweet potatoe tzimmes which everyone loved. Let us know how your holiday meals end up. gayle
