Guest guest
you have to constantly check labels....even stuff that used to be safe in the past. i'm finding products that didn't used to have hfcs in them do now...like blue sky soda. i wrote them a letter about how disappointed i was that they started using hfcs...they never replied. i don't buy their products anymore. companies use hfcs because it's so much cheaper than sugar. one would hope that trader joes and other 'natural " food brands would be above that. the book, 'fat land' by greg critser discusses hfcs quite a bit. susie --- Jen Lott <celestial726 wrote: > I need to work 4 more hours at our co-op before the > end of August. Guest guest
the thing about HFCS being cheaper...it became government subsidized during the depression to make it that way. Guest guest
Anything that is labled certified organic will not have hfcs in it. I am a fanatic on readin labels, too. Most bread has hfcs in it, and you have to buy organic or something very natural to not get it. Luckily I have found some bread at our local store that is whole grain and no hfcs. I live in the land of GMO corn (and soybeans) - Iowa - it is amazing all those crops go to make sugar or feed animals, instead of feeding humans. On a positive note, organic flax seed is becoming a lucrative crop here. But, we in Iowa, need to pay attention to our Legislature because they are wanting to pass a law that will inhibit local communities who want to ordain organic only farming. Yep, those GMO/bio tech companies are trying every way to push their own agenda. , " artichoke72x " <artichoke72x> wrote: > you have to constantly check labels....even stuff that > used to be safe in the past. i'm finding products > that didn't used to have hfcs in them do now...like > blue sky soda. i wrote them a letter about how > disappointed i was that they started using hfcs...they > never replied. i don't buy their products anymore. > companies use hfcs because it's so much cheaper than > sugar. one would hope that trader joes and other > 'natural " food brands would be above that. > > the book, 'fat land' by greg critser discusses hfcs > quite a bit. > > susie > > --- Jen Lott <celestial726> wrote: > > > I need to work 4 more hours at our co-op before the > > end of August.
