Guest guest
Hi, I guess I thought the meat smell was just part of the " grocery store " smell, you know? I don't know why they put the produce by the meat either. Maybe it because it all has to be refrigerated so to " save space and be optimal " it works that way. Stores don't care about " moral or ethical " eating just profits. I just thought of that sitting here typing. Do health food stores do the same thing? Guest guest
Here in Germany, there's a separate store for selling meats and seafoods so I don't smell it at all in the markets. But I go to one health store especially and it has sausages wrapped in plastic and such (like us hot dogs) and I sometimes forget they're real meat because the whole store is practically vegetarian! , J Lyn <poet_atrabilious> wrote: > Hi, > I guess I thought the meat smell was just part of the " grocery store " smell, you know? > > I don't know why they put the produce by the meat either. Guest guest
Try walking around in an older oriental market where everything is laid out in the open, including the friggin’ fish! THAT smells real nice. Guest guest
most of my family is German. I am 3/4 German. I can remember that when I was a kid I called my aunts Tante, and they and my mom fed me raw meats mainly ground beef but bacon also. woh. Is this still practiced in Germany, or have they wised up? Guest guest
I don't know anyone that does this. In fact I don't even know many Germans that eat meat! And those that do eat most of their meals vegetarian. Mind you German vegetarian includes fish and other various seafoods but I still think it's better than most americans. There are even many vegetarian only restaurants here and I am moving back to the states in a month and looked up restaurants online and had forgotten that vegetarian restaurants dont really exist (at least where Im moving)! Agh! I love German recipe books or recipes in magazines because most (Id say 75%) of the recipes are vegetarian anyway! At the Mensa (university cafeteria) there are different floors (1-veggie, 2-meat, 3-pasta/pizza) and the line for veggie is always super long, its so popular! I'm 1/2 German but bilingual in english and german. I'm gonna miss this place! , " PuterWitch " <puterwitch@c...> wrote: > most of my family is German.
