Guest guest
Nope not too nosy. Fezzik is the name of the giant (played by Andre the giant) in the movie The Princess Bride. I thought it a rather appropriate (and ironic) name choice. I've lived in Germany since August and am moving back July 28th to Ohio, which is the state my university is in, but after a month since I'm in my last semester currently and therefore graduating, I'll be moving back in with my parents in Virginia for a year (living rent free!) and working on grad school apps. Where I end up after that depends on the grad school. There are tons of veggie restaurants and organic food stores in Ohio and next to none in VA but I'm going to try to make do. I've already got a list of places to check out and found a great website...VA veggie society, so maybe I'll end up joining that. I actually ended up becoming veggie by accident, if you can believe it. Back in the US I used to not eat cow but still other meat dishes, but always wanted to be a vegetarian, just never knew how to go about it. Then here in Germany, there is so much veggie food and otpions everywhere (and they always sounded and looked so much better than the other options) and cheaper that I always just ate veggie food. It wasn't until months later that I realized I was eating 95% veggie anyway, I might as well go all out! So I was really veggie without even realizing it heh! So the actual move to vegetarian wasnt very hard, just doing some reading up to learn more about what I was eating and also defining for myself why I was eating the way I was. And since then been quite happy. Lots of fears about vegetarianism (as far as things to eat) in the US but I'm sure I'll manage alright, especially with you guys! One of my first stops in Ohio when I get back is Trader Joes! Unfortunately VA doesnt have any but they have 2 organic stores that I plan on checking out. Ok that was long, sorry. -Katie , GeminiDragon <thelilacflower> wrote: > Yes you are settle into the clan now. It's nice knowing you first name. I kept looking in the emails and thinking I must have missed it somewhere. What does the name Fezzik mean, and your official date to move back to the States, and what state are you from? Am I being too nosey? Guest guest
aww aren't budgies great? I feed Fezzik a mainly pellet (Harrisons) and veggie diet (he loves spinach! which actually works out great because my roommate doesnt really like leafy greens but likes spinach, so it gets HIM eating it too lol!). I've heard many budgies like pasta dishes but Fezzik's not too keen. He's no vegan though, loves boiled eggs. (Weirds me, birds eating eggs...seems somewhat cannibalistic? But the vet recommends it and Fezzik loves it so shrug). Can't wait to see him! -Katie , " Whittington5 " <critters> wrote: > We have 8 budgies.....and several other birds. We share our veggie fares with the birds. A favorite snack is the Ezekiel Bread. They like it toasted too! > I make a wonderful homemade diet for the birds and I've even heard that people feed it to other pets and eat it themselves! It's veggie as well. > Thanks for the recipes! > We are starting to get in cucumbers from the garden. > Can't wait to make some cucumber/lime salsa! > Robin > > > > > >
Guest guest
You should try Eucalyptus leaves! Mine love them and I can have them shipped to the USA for under $10 including shipping from Australia. Visit www.budgieworld.net I think it is. Lots of good budgie info there! I personally don't use pellets. Never seen a pellet tree and I wouldn't eat all processed foods so why would I feed it to my birds? I do offer a gourmet seed diet as well as lots of other fresh things! Budgies are grass keets so they benefit from some seed and don't get fatty liver disease as easily. The eggs I guess would offer a protein source. We feed our chickens hard boiled eggs when young. But stop once they are free ranging real well on their own. If you fix different grains etc. in your veggie diet try offering him some. Flax, millet, legumes, chick peas etc. Birds are great and make great vegetarian companions! Guest guest
When I first got him he was on an all seed diet but he kept getting sick and his feathers were dull in color. Turns out the seeds I were using (from your standard pet store) were the processed diet, and the vet recommended Harrisons, which is fairly natural and is even human-edible. And since he's never been sick, his feathers are much brighter and he has lots more energy. Yep the eggs are a protein source. I do plan on growing my own millet one day though I havent had an opportunity to yet. -Katie , " Whittington5 " <critters> wrote: > You should try Eucalyptus leaves! Guest guest
Hey, Katie, can I get in on this conversation also? I live in Va, where are you moving to? Nope...no vegetarian restaurants nearby and traveling and hr or more to find one is not something I want to try. I live in Williamsburg and the nearest restaurants and good markets require some traveling. Jane
