I've never tried this as I have no oven but a lot of bread recipes

in Germany involve using yogurt. I've eaten lots of breads with

yogurt from the bakery...so maybe soy yogurt would work? I don't

know though.

Thanks Jenni, I will try the apple cider vinegar in soy milk. Need to try the

flax eggs also. I have been curious and just never got around to trying that.

I love to experiemnt and this would be wonderful if my recipes all taste the

same without the dairy or eggs also.........Donna

I would either use soy sour cream, or you could probably quite easily

use soymilk.. or even better soymilk with a little apple cider

vinegar.. maybe a tsp in one cup would make a thicker soymilk that

should work! =)

I'm surprised you haven't tried the flax egg replacement Donna, since

you tend to swap ingredients around frequently =)

I was doubtful at first, but haven't had any problems baking and so I'm

vegan! hee hee! I doubt I could do it if I couldn't bake... and

that's the truth! =)

I am! As a kid I used to bake all the time but relied on my parents

for stove-cooked food most of the time, and then when I lived on my

own I baked constantly...I just think baked food tastes great plus

it's better than other options, say frying. And my studio in Germany

has 2 stove burners, a sink, a fridge and no oven! There's one

downstairs but the room requries a 50Euro deposit (whether you are

just baking for an hour or throwing a party for an entire night) and

I don't tend to have 50s to spare so I haven't had a chance to bake

since ohhh August 2004. And my favorite veggie food is spinach

lasagna so you bet I'm going to be making lots of that! :D And now I

have lots of new ingredients to try out too!
