Guest guest
I've had a related theory for years. Only way to prove or disprove it would be to see through someone else's eyes! The colours we see are reflections of light waves off of objects that reflect that light. Could that hue also be filtered by the eyes we see it through? I mean, what we all, consistantly learned to call " yellow, " might actually look different. Oh, sure, we could still see the same shades, but like or not like them, individually... I just wonder how " same " we perceive! Maybe colours register differently through different coloured eyes. Maybe some people have different strengths in their cones and rods. And to confuse things even more, I used to know a fully blind woman who could touch something and identify its colour.... correctly! Was she feeling temperature? I'm sure, as sighted learn to name the same hue as a particular colour, she learned names for how " colours " feel to her! Let's try this: My eyes are ___________. My favorite colour is _____________. ....And wander through the forest Where the trees have leaves of prisms And break the light in colors That no-one knows the names of... ~ From The Byrds' Wasn't Born to Follow ~ ===== --- GeminiDragon <thelilacflower wrote: I can't stand bright yellow, isn't that funny how all of us have different tastes ? Guest guest
Ive had this theory posited by both myself and TO me due to my colorblindness. Why should a stupid test where we have to pick out a number from some dots determine what colors we can see or not anyway? Good theory but then I have to reply back to the fact that lights really bug me and movies with flashing colors literally hurt my eyes. But colorblindess is an issue with the strength of the cones or rods or else they're backwards or something, I always get them mixed up. But also I think a lot of it has to due with learning as we are children. We point to something and are told that's green, blue, whatever. Shrug. To anwer your question... My eyes are what I call pond water. They are blue-green-grey mix both blended and with flecks. I've been told they change by my mood (blue when happier, etc) but I dunno about that. Who knows, maybe I cant even see my own eye color right. Everyone tells me they see more blue, I see more green. My favorite color is blue though lately tending towards orange (not to be confused with orange-yellow or orange-red but not pure orange either). -Katie , Jiraph Wirpel <wirpel> wrote: > > I've had a related theory for years. Guest guest
Colour blindness is recessive genetic. It much more commonly occurs among males. Assuming you were not adopted, have you looked at who else, going back, in your family tree is/was colour blind? Those tests are designed so that, those who are not colour blind, can differentiate the color variations. Those who are colour blind, do not. http://ricksaphire.com/colorblind/56.jpg I used to have a room-mate who was colour blind. If I wasn't available in the morning, he'd go to the neighbors' to see if his clothes choices matched! :^) ===== --- budgiegirl2003 <budgiegirl2003 wrote: I've had this theory posited by both myself and TO me due to my colorblindness. Guest guest
Yeah the only problem with that is that the people I live with get tired of hearing on a daily basis 'does this match?'. So I just stopped asking, got rid of all of my questionable clothes, decided if it was questionable in the store not to buy it and to just stick with neutral colors. Obviously Im terrible with redgreen dot tests, but amusingly..do you know those magic eye pictures where you can see images pop out? Im REALLY good at ones with blue and black and white ones-I can get them quicker than anyone else when I do them in groups. -Katie , Jiraph Wirpel <wirpel> wrote: > > Colour blindness is recessive genetic. I don't remember anything about it being related to eye color though... but it was years ago I read about it, so who knows what they've come up with since then! :-) > And to confuse things even more, I used to know a > fully blind woman who could touch something and > identify its colour.... correctly!
