Aren't authentic bagels made with eggs? Or is it only the " egg bagel " ?

That's what I meant by real....I used the wrong word. But, maybe

authentic bagles aren't made with eggs, I might have mispoke. D

I think it is only the egg bagel (it's yellow because of the yolk, I

believe)

other bagels can have an egg or milk wash on the m to make things

stick, but that is not at all necessary, and often an extra expense,

therefore not practiced.

bagels are usually a safe vegan option... and with tofutti cream cheese

... YUMMMM

=)

or with hummus.. also good.. or peanut butter..

hmmm

Some bagels have toppings cooked into them (including cheese). I've found

bagel places to be the best source for (lacto/ovo) veggie sandwiches in my

experience. They always seem to have the best options (already on the menu)

and you can generally mix and match on anything else without any fuss. I

like that you can have fresh veggie toppings (tomatoes, sprouts, red onion,

etc) with a rich cream cheese on a bagelwich..

I dont know the answer to why but I was looking at Dunkin Donuts

website (which is in the same airport but farther away) and they have a

listing of their bagels and ingredients and what contains egg or milk

or honey or not. Some do and some don't. Not sure why but you can look

at their website for a general idea.

according to dunkin donuts website bagels are not a safe vegan food

although certain types of bagels (maybe 3 or 4) are. I was just

looking for information on that specific company.

Thanks for the clarification, Jenni.

Mmmmm, my favorite way of eating a bagel is toasted hot, spread with

cream cheese and a large, thick slice of fresh tomato from the garden

or farmers' market, then topped with salt and cracked pepper. My

favorite tomato for this is a yellow beefsteak called Dr. Wyche's.

It's yellow with red veins and has a wonderful flavor!
