Guest guest
hi melissa, i didn't know you lived in texas. i've never been to killeen, but i can only imagine it's not veggie friendly. at least austin isn't too far away from you. my parents live there. i was there a few weeks ago too. my brother took me to a little restaurant across from ut on guadalupe called 'veggie heaven' (asian type food)....most of the items were vegan and it was inexpensive. we also went to a vietnamese place that had a vegan rice vermicelli dish that was yummy....i can't remember the name (i could find out if you'd like). have you been to the flagship whole foods in austin yet? 80,00 sq. feet of greatness....i went crazy in there. i found the vegan gourmet cheese alternative there and my dad and i thought it was better than any other one we had ever tried. i also found a wheat-free, yeast-free, diary-free bread there called healthseed spelt (made by french meadows bakery)...it was amazing! i would love to live in austin. susie --- Melissa Hill <assilembob wrote: > I also live in Texas, but I am in Killeen which is > in central texas an hour north of Austin. Guest guest
I love veggie heaven! it's one of my favorite places to eat! You should try Mr. Natural on S. Lamar or NuAge on Exposition sometime too. Mr. Natural does use some dairy and eggs but the vegan stuff is clearly marked and the staff is very helpful. NuAge is totally vegan although can get pricey. Whole Foods is nuts. I love it, but it's just too expensive for me on most things. It's a specialty only place for things like vegan gormet and some sweets. I much prefer Central Market or Wheatsville for when I drive down to grocery shop (yes I have to drive an hour to do bulk shopping for nuts, grains ect...it's rediculous. I also can't get much organic produce here in Killeen. It's time to move.) But anyhow, Austin is amazing and I am desprately trying to get a job there but I need to be able to speak spanish to teach in AISD or DVISD (Austin or Del Valle) and those are the only theatre teacher jobs open :-( I am actually going to Austin to eat and go to whole foods tonight...and to go dancing but that's another story ;-) My best friend just got married and I was out of town when they had to do the ceremony. Stupid army said do it now or never...so I am going to take her out to celebrate as a late bachelorette thingy. ~Mel --- " artichoke72x " <artichoke72x wrote: > hi melissa, > i didn't know you lived in texas. i've never been > to > killeen, but i can only imagine it's not veggie > friendly. at least austin isn't too far away > from > you. my parents live there. i was there a few > weeks > ago too. my brother took me to a little restaurant > across from ut on guadalupe called 'veggie heaven' > (asian type food)....most of the items were vegan > and > it was inexpensive. we also went to a vietnamese > place that had a vegan rice vermicelli dish that was > yummy....i can't remember the name (i could find out > if you'd like). have you been to the flagship whole > foods in austin yet? 80,00 sq. feet of > greatness....i > went crazy in there. i found the vegan gourmet > cheese > alternative there and my dad and i thought it was > better than any other one we had ever tried. i also > found a wheat-free, yeast-free, diary-free bread > there > called healthseed spelt (made by french meadows > bakery)...it was amazing! i would love to live in > austin. > susie > > --- Melissa Hill <assilembob wrote: > > > I also live in Texas, but I am in Killeen which is > > in central texas an hour north of Austin.
