Guest guest
I have been vegetarian for almost 14 years and my daughter has been vegetarian for about 10 years, my husband and son are not vegetarian. I was never a big meat eater to begin with although I think for a few weeks I was still eating a little bit of meat and then I just stopped. my son was 4.5 and my daughter was 1.5 when I made the switch, I had also been married for 9.5 years. I would think if my daughter and I ate meat at this point in time we would get sick. NOT that either one of us have an interest in eating meat( yuck!) Good luck Gayle
Guest guest
Did I miss something in membership guidelines? This isn't a group for only girls, is it? Do men participate? How long have y'all, individually, been vegetarians? Was it a sudden or gradual transformation? For me, its been a metamorphisis. When I moved in to my apartment, my ma visited, stocking my kitchen. Mothers! Today, I cleaned out my freezer. I tossed packaged buffalo, ostrich, chicken, and salmon. I was torn about giving it away, but decided that could be seen as promoting its consumption. Do any of you ever find tell-tale evidence of havng been a meat-eater? Now its time to go eat something healthy that I did not have to religate to the creatures of the alley! I thought there were a few guys too... > How long have y'all, individually, been vegetarians? Over a dozen years... > Was it a sudden or gradual transformation? Very sudden. One day in college I decided I could no longer have others " do my dirty work " , and if I couldn't go kill a cow or a chicken myself I shouldn't be eating it... > When I moved in to my apartment, my ma visited, > stocking my kitchen. Mothers! *lol* Several time upon getting back to college, I would open my suitcase to find a few cans of chicken noodle soup.... she meant well, anyway! :-) > Today, I cleaned out my freezer. I can see how this would have been tough... but I probably would still have given it away. There are so many people who have nothing to eat it's hard for me to throw any food away, unless it's gone bad. But congrats on getting it out of the house!! > Do any of you ever find tell-tale evidence of havng > been a meat-eater? Guest guest
Do any of you ever find tell-tale evidence of havng been a meat-eater? Not sure I understand this one...? Like discovering a hidden can of something like tuna or chicken soup in a corner of a cupboard... Now its time to go eat something healthy that I did not have to religate to the creatures of the alley! What's you have? :-) Today I have a sweet tooth. I think I will slice one of the bananas I bought yesterday, and drip some dark chocolate sauce over those slices. I might make oatmeal cookies. I also bought a mix yesterday. I have some yellow raisins I could add. I'm not a very creative cook. I still have to overcome my throw-a-steak-on-the-grill gene! __ Start your day with - make it your home page http://www./r/hs

I'm different. I would have given it to a shelter or family that desperately needed food. But that's just me. I'm not going to judge you for your choice in the matter. Guest guest
gradual for me. started getting sick/ bloated/ heavy feeling after eating red meat so gave it up back in the '80's, poultry and animal products in other foods a year or so later- vegetarian boyfriend was a big influence!! He's history but I'm veggie forever <grin> funny thing, mom told me how hard it was to get me to eat meat as a baby/toddler, only wanted veggies, fruit and cereal!! Guest guest
My uncle and me are the only vegetarians in the house, my hubby and three kids eat meat. I do however notice some things that I bought just for myself that they never liked. I gave some things to the food drive, like a can of corned beef, (how did I ever?!) and a can of spam...... I know I know, LOL. We do occasionally have fish in the freezer for him, but most of the time, he has his packet of tuna or salmon at lunch (at work), and he eats vegetarian the rest of the time.
