more fiber and exercize helps lower it too. oatmeal is really good for lowering

cholesterol. so is a 15-30 min walk 2or3 times a week, daily if she enjoys it.

suggest she keep a food diary for a week, just for herself, to go over and see

where lower chol. foods can be substituted for her regular choices. that's what

I did, really helped, didn't realize how much fat and bad carbs I was eating!!

thanks Angela, I suggested these things to her, she hates oatmeal, and that is

understandable, but the walks, forget it. grrr, stubborn as a mule. I just wound

up telling her, " whatever. " I will get as far with that as I will with any other

advise. grrr.

thanks,

Chanda

So many times when people find out they are very ill, don't want to

change and either just want the drugs or they don't want those either.

They have to come to the decision on what to do for themselves and no

matter what we try it's rare that we can change their minds.

I tried to get my mom to take flax seed oil when she was battling

ovarian cancer. I'd read that a German doctor had done a study in

which almost all of her cancer patients went into remission from

taking a tablespoon of flax oil every day. I bought a bottle and

mailed it to my mom. Did she ever even open it? No. I kept asking her

and she never tried it. Eventually I think she threw it away....and

it's not like it was a cheap bottle! So, I had to just accept that she

was going to take care of herself the way she felt comfortable. Sigh
