Guest guest
Stopped in a coffee shop/deli today. Was barely tempted by the ham, chicken, or turkey sandwich choices. When I saw that they had veggie sandwich, my mouth watered. I ordered one of those. Then, without asking me, they grilled it. It was not listed as a cooked veggie sandwich. I told the kid working there that I wanted my sandwich. He said it wasn't ready. I repeated that I was ready for it! It would have been better cool and crispy on a hot summer day. If I ever go there again, I will request that they not cook it! Me, David, the " non-cook! Guest guest
you were really tempted by the deli meats? I find that interesting as I am the opposite. To me a deli is the worst place for any temptations because the meat is jut lying there, all next to each other and it looks so unattractive, LOL. The smell of the BBQ grill turns MY head, but then I think of my yummy veggie burgers and my veggie kabobs and I am good, knowing that it's not the smell of the meat that is really tempting me, it's the smell of the spices used on the meat, and I can have them anytime ) Blessings, Chanda - David Penelope Sunday, August 07, 2005 4:10 PM Sandwich for Lunch Stopped in a coffee shop/deli today. I was tempted by the familiar ease of slapped together meat. I guess old habits (and the source of deli slices) die hard. Hey! I'm still pretty new at this! My grandmother would think it's her influence. Tonight I'm going to have some borscht, with real beet pieces in it, and a small glob of sour cream on top. Me, David, the " non-cook! David, I've been a vegetarian for a long time... and I'm still tempted by the ease of stuff like that. The meat itself holds no temptation for me, but I wish it were as easy to find veg " meats " or healthy veggie sandwiches out there!! > My grandmother would think it's her influence. > Tonight I'm going to have some borscht, with real beet > pieces in it, and a small glob of sour cream on top. Mmm, I love borscht. Got a good recipe? :-) Amy
Guest guest
> Oh Amy, it IS easy. > some cucumber slices on some toast with some veganaise or mayo and > some horseradish, ta die for I tell ya. > Or a tomato sandwich, yumz! with mayo or veganaise and black pepper > just so gooooooood. I love those too, Chanda.... When you're out or traveling - do you find those on any menus? And do you see whole grain bread? Rarely, and forget a sandwhich with some form of vegetarian protein on it... *sigh*
