Guest guest
Gary - that was an interesting response from Calphalon, I think I'm still going to avoid all non stick surfaces though. I visited Bed Bath & Beyond yesterday to see what they had - nearly everything has non stick coating & anything really good with out it was so expensive!! I did get just a plain old cast iron pan - Donna, thanks, now I know how to get it ready and care for it - I also got some silicone (lets hope they are safe, though I'm not eating off them) oven mits, which I'm excited about (if they don't melt all over my hands:)) The cast iron double griddle was so heavy I decide to wait a bit, gotta think of a good place to keep it. Catherine - that oh natural stuff looks interesting, when will it make its way to the states?? I'd like to use the " beef tips " for " beef and brocolli " ...and fajitas... m

I think I've only had one silicon hot pad that exhibited any problems with heat. Everything else has worked marvelous. I've had most of these for a year or two. Guest guest
My husband wanted me to buy the silcone pans but I was leary of them. They really seem strange to me : ) I love my stone pie plate, it browns the crusts nicely and the bottom of the pie is never soggy. My round stone makes great pizza, the crust is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I mainly use it for pizza but potato skins are great baked on a stone and so are cookies. Just my two cents Jane
Guest guest
Melissa, Oh Naturel isn't available in the US currently, but I will make some inquiries on Monday and let everyone know. It's really awesome stuff, and I hope it is available there soon! Guest guest
Oh, I love cooking/baking with my stoneware. I used to sell Pampered Chef so I have a lot of their stoneware products. My very first PC item was actually a gift from my sister years ago, this pizza stone is quite black and everything comes out perfect from it. I also use my casserole stoneware pieces a lot, I have four different sizes depending on what I'm cooking and for how many. Once you've used the pieces enough they are truly well seasoned and non-stick; just like the cast iron. I don't own any, but I covet the Le Creuset line. A friend of mine in Portland has every cooking piece from them, they are beautiful pieces of cookware! http://www.lecreuset.com/usa/home.php Denise , Jenni Billings <jenni@b...> wrote: > what about silicon pans?? > > I've seen them but am too worried about what might be seeping into my > food to actually buy them! > =) > > and what about stones (no, not the rolling ones.. the baking ones?) > anyone fond of stone bakeware? > > I use a stone pizza thing, and bake my bread on that everytime.. > =) > jenni > > On Friday, August 19, 2005, at 01:05 PM, Gary Mattingly wrote: > > > I've bought about 7 or 8 silicone hot pads > > and a pair of silicon mits and also a silicon > > baking sheet. A friend of mine > in Portland has every cooking piece from them, they are beautiful > pieces of cookware! http://www.lecreuset.com/usa/home.php I have a couple of pieces of Le Creuset - it is wonderful! Even heat, just great. If you can find some cheap (*lol*) get it... has a 101 year warranty. I dated a guy once whose mom had gotten a piece for a wedding gift... I was hmmm... 29? and he was the same age... so you know her pan was at least that old... anyway, a small part of the enamel had started to bubble/warp. She sent it to the company with a note, and no questions (or even a note with the return!) - they sent her a brand new pan.
Guest guest
It's funny how different people like different things. I had a 4 piece set and gave it away. Too heavy and I just didn't care for it. I am so comfortable with stainless steel and cast iron and clay pots....
