Guest guest
i am still smiling over the thought of a little person running around the house. i am a homeschool mom, but my youngest is now 12 years old and almost as tall as i am! They grow so fast; in a blink of an eye. *sigh* Anyway, i was looking through my files on my computer and dreaming about the past in efforts to recall some of my children's favorite nibbles at that age. Here is what i came up with: 1. Cheesy Sun Crisps. This recipe should be in our files already under appetizers. They are delicious crackers you make yourself. There is one ingredient i might alter for a 17 month old, and that is the 2/3 cup of roasted sunflower seeds. You might wish to just sub more flour or pulse the sunfloer seeds in a food processor to make them smaller. 2. Cheerios. You probably already do this, but my kids enjoyed a dish of round cereal like Cheerios. i know there are some really good organic brands that make Cheerio-like cereals that are additive free and not full of sugar. 3. Pasta. i used to cook al dente small pasta; remember those tiny round pasta shapes we used to string as necklaces? Well, there are so many different small shapes now to choose from, and i'd suggest offering a small bowl of those. If you don't put any sauce on them and cook them until just soft, yet still firm in the middle [al dente], then they are easy for kids to eat and not as messy. My daughter loved regular macaroni. 4. Dried fruit bits. There are so many of these available now as well. You mentioned you already give your daughter raisins. How about pineapple, cranberries, apricots, etc. Just cut them smaller and be sure they are nice and soft. My kids didn't like the dried bananas until their teeth grew in more, but most others are easier to chew. 5. Softer veggies chopped small, like little pieces of cucumbers, partially cooked carrots, ripe olives, etc. Maybe even some lightly marinated tofu bits. i hope some of my ideas were helpful. Hopefully more of the members will think of good items to suggest to you as well. namaste ~ pt ~ A happy life consists in tranquillity of mind. ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC)

Guest guest
You are very welcome, and i am glad some of them were helpful. As far as sea veggie go, no, i never had opportunity to serve them to my kids when they were small. At the time i was living in a very rural area of upstate NY and none of the grocery stores carried anything like that. There are so many more things available nowadays.... even from what we had back 12 years ago. i think it is just great, so go for it if you have access to sea veggies. From what i understand they are full of healthy nutrients. Sorry about the pic not going through. That would be the fault of the group settings. We don't allow attachments here due to member requests when i started the group. BUT please do post your daughter's pic into the photo section here: lst Thank you. ~ pt ~ A wise old owl sat on an oak, The more he saw the less he spoke; The less he spoke the more he heard; Why aren't we like that wise old bird? ~ Edward Hersey Richards ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , " Jesika J " <jesikaj@m...> wrote: > Thanks so much for all these fabulous ideas! > > What about sea veggies?
