Guest guest
i surely do wash mine as well. Even though i know they are growing in sterile " stuff " , i don't like it on my mushrooms, and brushes can't seem to get it all off. Rachel Ray always uses a towel and mentions not to wash them on her show. Maybe you should email her, Amy. *lol* ~ pt ~ In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy. ~ William Blake ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , " Amy " <sandpiperhiker> wrote: > Supposedly that's because mushrooms absorb water... however, I have a > book called " WHat Einstein told his cook " that debunks that. Guest guest
There's a show on Food Network called " Good Eats " which examines the science behind foods and cooking. One segment concerned busting food myths, including whether washing mushrooms will cause them to become waterlogged. Alton Brown, the host, weighed some mushrooms, soaked them for a couple of minutes, dried them, then weighed them again. The difference in weight was negligable. He determined that the no-wash rule was just another food myth. Sherry in Oregon At 07:21 AM 11/1/2005, you wrote: >i surely do wash mine as well.
