Guest guest
Do you make lye soap? I'd like to put nettles in my soap too... I was just wondering how the lye reacted with the nettle. I had to grow my own, because every time I went to buy it at my local co-op, they were out! Very popular herb. sting sting sting! I don't have much room, so I am used to bending over and getting my backside stung! xoxoRobyn When I have an itchy bite or when I get stung by a bee, I make a nettle infusion (just hot water mixed with the nettles) to get rid of the sting/itch factor. Be careful picking nettles on your own because live nettles sting (as the name implies). Ironically enough their sting can be stopped by breaking open the leaves and getting nettle juice on the affected area.
Guest guest
I would like to know more about them if any members have news to share. Thanking in advance, Patti
Guest guest
I get a dried nettle tea from my favorite teahouse; it's loaded with iron. Tastes like really strong green tea. If you're around Settle, it's Mr. Spot's Chaihouse on Leary NW. Guest guest
I buy dried stinging nettles to use in some of my soaps. Nettles are a natural histimine blocker which is great for allergies or any type of bug bites. Some people swear by my tea tree rosemary nettle bar ---to stop itching from mosquito bites. Guest guest
I do. Normally I grind the nettles and add to my soap at the end or just add the regular dried nettle pieces at the end and stir before putting in the mold. They tend to stay greenish and don't have any problem. I haven't tried adding it to the lye bath though. I made soap about a month ago and posted a picture on my blog. The green layer is ground nettles and woodruff. Link here, if you want to take a look and get an idea for the coloring... http://vegchic.blogspot.com/2006/05/soap-stuff.html , TruNatrschild wrote: > > > > Do you make lye soap?
