Guest guest
Dear Christie, This has been education for me, " taurine " . Perhaps, dogs don't need " taurine " and can be without it. Oh, I am just guessing here and don't have the facts. I wish I know more. You made me search for " cantaloupe " , Thanks :-) I now know it is another word for " melons " . I didn't see your tortie tabbies. I just saw the big, fat, colourful one with 3 or 4 colours. Do you have pics of your torties you can sent? Heh, 4.5 and 5.5Kg are definitely not babbies anymore, ha, lol :-) I am loving it here, another nice, hot day. But I am in a cool shed at the bottom of my garden :-) Best Wishes, Wee On Behalf Of christie_0131 10 June 2006 22:41 Re: Wee's here's the link to members photos - Thanks Donna :-) It's not good for cats to be vegetarian, Wee - they need taurine which they can only get in meat. They often like fruit and veggies though. I used to have a fierce tomcat who was anybody's for a piece of cantaloupe. My current 2 tortie tabbies (who are not related to each other although they look quite similar) really like lemon torte and they love my tomato and creme fraiche soup. Sadly the vet put them both on a diet so they get no treats at the moment (one weighs 4.5 and the other 5.5 kilos). Christie
Guest guest
Tee hee - that big fat colourful cat is actually 2 big fat colourful cats, Poppy and Layla, who look very similar and hate each other. I had 1 cat, then a friend was looking for a home for another and I said I'd take her without even seeing her, so it was a big surprise when I got her home and saw how similar they were. They are tortoiseshell with bits of tabby markings so they are tortie tabbies. My understanding is that taurine is something that cats need for their eyesight and they will go blind without it. I just realsied that the pic in my file are of my cats and their favourite soup! How funny. It's another hot day here too but I am nice and cool in my living room - I live on the ground floor and the sun does not venture this far down :-( except at 7 in the morning when she smiles through my bedroom window. Keep cool! Guest guest
Wee I did some searching online and here is a link to a page from the Vegetarian Society website which speaks about cats and the vegetarian diet. http://www.vegsoc.org/info/catfood.html HTH Christie , " Wee K Chew " <techiewee wrote: > > Dear Christie, > > This has been education for me, " taurine " . > Perhaps, dogs don't need " taurine " and can be without it. > Oh, I am just guessing here and don't have the facts. > I wish I know more. > > You made me search for " cantaloupe " , Thanks :-) > I now know it is another word for " melons " . > > I didn't see your tortie tabbies. > I just saw the big, fat, colourful one with 3 or 4 colours. > Do you have pics of your torties you can sent? > Heh, 4.5 and 5.5Kg are definitely not babbies anymore, ha, lol :-) >
Guest guest
Dear Christie, I look again and you are so right :-) That really caught me out, lol. That soup looks like tomato soup, sketched with what looked like double-cream. I completely agree with you that it is much cooler in the ground floor of a Victorian house. I just went to my old Victorian house in NW London and sure enough, I was thinking of what you said about it being cool. Only that it is expensive to heat in the winter, despite the double glazing we had done to it. Gone are the sash windows, which were letting in cold draught in the winter months. Guest guest
They are very strong-willed cats, Marilyn. and won't take no for an answer. One is so loving with me but attacks the cat sitter or neighbours who try to befriend her. The other will go to anyone for a stroke but woe betide you if you try to tickle her tummy or pick her up. Tortitude - that is a good name for it. I had a friend who had one and she was just the same. The vet calls them naughty torties - I never heard torbies before. My last cat had extraordinary gaydar - I work in the field of HIV and also have many gay friends. As soon as a gay man walked into the room she would roll over onto her back and wave her legs in the air. If a straight man walked in she'd run a mile. In the 19 years she lived with me, I only ever knew her to be wrong once. Christie , " Marilyn Daub " <mcdaub wrote: > > They are called torbies, and boy do they have tortitude!!! Guest guest
Cats are very intelligent. And maybe she wasn't wrong. The Torbie is the calico or tortie with striping on one of their colors, usually the red. It is Tortitude, and mine sure has it. She is a very loving cat, but if she doesn't like you, she will get you!!!
