Guest guest
I don't want to beat a dead ah er um parsnip to death. (Sorry Donna. I won't put these non vegetarian references in a post until at least tomorrow.) In recipes, vegetarianism vs. non vegetarianism or in health, there is no right and no wrong; no good and no bad. There are consequences however. As Newton's Third Law of Motion states that Every action has na equal and opposite reaction. Where there is a cause there is also an effect. I agree that coffee is a food with one of the highest amounts of antioxidants of any food. Herbalists have known this for many years. In fact, this article was just posted in the news today: http://www.cnn.com/2006/HEALTH/06/13/coffee.liver.reut/index.html It is about coffee reducing cirrhosis of the liver. These same herbalists do not think that coffee is health however. It can stimulate the liver but it can raise havoc with the nerves, parasympathetic nervous system and adrenal glands and kidneys. Coffee overtaxes these systems. It will give you lots of energy but what goes up must come down. You dcome down and then need a nap or another cup of coffee to keep you up. Everyone is different but if you have allergies or headaches and drink coffee, you may want to consider the effect of coffee. I did not want to talk about htis since this is a food group but what goes in must come out. Herbalists do not recommend drinking coffee but coffee is one of the best for <ahem> detoxifying enemas. By ingesting coffee this way it releases toxins striaght from the liver and does not affect the nervous system adversely. Dr. Gonzales, M.D. , who is getting much better survival rates from his cancer patients than almost any doctor in the US, has his patients use coffee enemas and they do not drink the coffee. The National Institute of Health is studying his work because of his outstanding results. Don't believe anything I've said. As in becoming a vegetarian or doing yoga, the only way to know is to try something. I challenge people to not drink coffee for at least 3 days and see the effect yourself. However, sometimes a " healing crisis " can result and you may feel worse before feeling better. People who have smoked or have taken heroin have the DT's and I know the effect of coffee is much much less but a smaller reaction may occur in some people. Most people will continue drinking coffee and they should enjoy it. There are two very good substitutes for coffee to keep one awake and alert. One is Yogi Tea and the other is ginger tea. There is something else that is not weird or gross one can do but I don't think anyone would want to do it so I'll leave it at that. Guest guest
Taking a cold shower the first thing in the morning. Who wants to try it? It is a yogic technique. A lot of cultures do it though. I remember reading " Life " magazine probably in the early 60's. It had a picture of a man who lived in Russia and every morning cut a hole in the ice and jumped in the water. It strengthens the nerves. Here is a website. It takes awhile to load. After it loads scroll 3/4 of the way down until you come to the article on Ishnaan.
