Guest guest
I actually have some of those that my partner's boss gave us, but the scapes I just bought aren't flat like that. Here is a link to a pic of what I have: http://www.mariquita.com/recipes/garlic-scapes.html. They are super tasty, a mild garlic flavor with a little bit of a kick. When I googled garlic scapes, owever, I came up with both the smaller round solid ones I've usually seen called scapes and the longer flat scallion-type as well. According to onw website, they are the garlic stems that grow above ground. But so are the flat ones...whatever, they're both still good, no matter what they are called. I think I'm going to add them to a rice dish tonight with some other green veggies, or maybe some in an omelet? I love trying out new veggies. ~Rachael Allyousubmitters.com: great paid-to-read program that really pays. Guest guest
the website below has a period at the end, so that is probably why it didn't stay as a clickable link. http://www.mariquita.com/recipes/garlic-scapes.html Try it now. Guest guest
I was first introduced to garlic scapes at our CSA two years ago. Check out the link below for a picture. http://www.maryjanesfarm.com/SimplyMJ/articles/column39.asp We get a huge amount each year, more than I could possibly use before they start to get icky. I've gotten in the habit of cutting them into small pieces with a kitchen scissors and freezing them raw. Whenever I want a garlic flavor, I can dip into my freezer supply. I've only used them in cooked dishes after freezing them. I'm not sure what the texture would be like in an uncooked dish. Katie http://frugalveggiemama.blogspot.com Talk is cheap. Guest guest
I actually tried one raw yesterday...they have a bite, kind of like a cross between raw garlic cloves and raw onion. The texture is like asparagus. Not something I think I would usually eat raw, but for people who like raw onion/garlic, it would be tasty. ~Rachael Messenger with Voice.
