One of my other groups came up with a web site that you could put push

pins in a map of the US. They did it just for fun to see where everyone

is. Shall I try to find that? I don't know if there were maps of other

countries or not. But it might be fun???

Welcome, Haneen!

My former father-in-law and his brother were born and raised in

Syria/Lebanon, so Arabic food plays a huge role in my own children's lives.

In fact, one of my kid's favorite foods is what they call " Arabic

Porridge " which is basically cream of wheat with teleme cheese and rose

water. I can't stand the stuff, but they think it's heavenly (as does

their father, my ex). They also love Kibbe, which I think would be hard

to make vegetarian, unless you used a soy replacement. I'd definitely

love to see what vegetarian Arabic foods you would prepare.

I live on a farm in Herndon, Georgia, population approx. 50 people. I

am mostly a raw vegan, semi-retired from the rat race and living as

close to nature as I can.

Since you are from Saudi Arabia, do you have any vegetarian recipes

for Mishee. I'm not sure if that is the correct way to spell it.

Thank you very much

Greetings to you all,

I am a newbie here and I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce

myself to the group. My name is Gray and I live in London U.K. I have

been a vegetarian for 25 years now, vegan for the last 5. I lived in

India for a couple of years too, gotta love that pure vegetarian

Indian food, yum!

Anyhow, I am interested to hear of any tasty recipes for Himalayan

specialities, anyone got vegan recipes for fried mo-mos or thukpa?

Nice to be here,

Gray

PS I see some of you are fans of sixties psychedelic music, my big

passion is Californian groups (the great and the obscure) of the late

60's which I research. Nice to know I am amongst like minded folk!

Gray you have to try the Mo Mo and Mo Mo sauce from the files. I make

them when the recipe was posted. Now I have been reminded to make

them again, I really liked that recipe.

I sm new to this group, and just finding some of the wonderful recipes it has to

offer. I am a visually impaired person, but only lost my sight about two years

ago. I have since learned to cook....and I LOVE to try everything! I have two

grown kids, a 23 yera old son, and a 22 year old daughter, and they come and

visit as much as possible...to get my cooking I think...smiles. I live near to

Grand Rapids, Michigan, but I am definitely out of the city, a country girl at

heart. I still live in a home off the far end of where I was raised...try

trying to decide if this is a good place to be now that I am alone out here in

the middle of no where with limitied sight...smiles...but hey, I have survived

this long...smiles...grins....and thanks for putting together a wonderful group.

That's fer sher! :o) I am in much less politically correct Sacramento, but I

lived in SF for 15 years.

xoxoRobyn who needs warmer weather, but not the triple digits we've been

getting.

I'm from beautiful, lush, hip, vegetarian and politically correct

Berkeley, Caliofrnia!

We have a vegetarian restaureant on nearly every block - lucky us!

You are lucky and I am so jealous. I wish I lived

there. I'm in redneck PA where half the population

never even saw a real veggie burger. A veggie

restaurant just opened but I doubt it will take off.

If you find me a house to rent - I'm there!!!!

-Cheryl,

I visited PA two years ago and I thought I would never find anything

to eat..LOL. Kidding. But eating out at a German restaurant was

hysterical for a Vegetarian. We did stay the weekend at an Amish

ranch and they had the most delicious home made applesauce and

yogurt.

But such a beautiful state . I loved the huge barns and corn cribs.

Sending smiles and hugs from Colorado

:-) I'm leaving for PA tomorrow in the wee hours of the morning! I was

there, visiting 2 years ago, and I loved it. Yes, food can be a

challenge, but many places I travel to are that way. My daughter is

also a vegetarian, so we are in the same boat.

I love PA! I look forward to all the recipes in my mbox when I return. :-)

I'm from Maryland within walking distance of the

Potomac River and in a suburb of Washington, DC. I'm

blessed with all the culture of the nation's capital

and Whole Foods, Mom's, and Bethesda Coop in which to

shop. All the grocery stores have organic and

vegetarian products. In addition it's a short drive to

The Vegetable Garden. There are also many ethnic

restaurants and vegetarian choices. It is also not far

from the Chesapeake Bay and many rivers and just

across the river from VA.

There is a down side LOL! Humidity is yucky. Currently

there has been torential rain with flooding in many

areas. It amuses me because the news had been talking

about our terrible drought last week. I've lived in

this area all my life and wonder when the weather

people will catch on <smile>

O.T. Don't worry....things change. I practiced alternative medicine in Chicago

and when we began in 1989 no one had ever heard of a naturapathic doctor. Now,

there are many.

As for a house in Berkeleyt, well, you may need to sell your first-born! The

cost of living here in the Bay Area is the highest in the country. It's the

price of living in this wonderful community. Wages are beginning to meet the

demands, though.

Shen

PEACE!
