Guest guest
Hello everyone First I'd like to say thanks for being such an awesome group! I am an aspiring vegetarian, and am pretty close to being there 100% I love all the recipes and talk here, it's great! Now, I have a question. I was given a bag of Urid beans (black with a small white dot), about 1-2 lbs. I haven't got a clue as to how to cook them. Everytime I google them, they mention Dal, but I have yet to find out how to make it. If anyone has some suggestions, I'd be forever greatfull Thank you muchly in advance BB, Tara -- " My Heart Is Like An Open Highway " " And dreaming doesn't do no good Cause I don't wanna lie That I'm okay and I'm alright I'd rather take it and forget it " My Site: http://www.creationsbytara.com My Home: http://www.kamloopscanada.net Do You Dream? Guest guest
Oh NEAT! New beans, yum! I just looked them up online, as you did and found lots of less than helpful suggestions other than not cooking them in a slow cooker. I wonder why? How odd. For me, when I get a new bean (there are so many differnet beans, legumes, etc in the world!) I soak a quarter cupful of them overnight, rinse, then cook in pain, unseasoned water till done. Once they are soft, then I taste and start playing with seasonings. I'm willing to bet that the vegetarian kitchen has more seasonings than most non-veg kitchens, and as a new veg, I suspect you are having a ball discovering this new world. So, short form. Cook up a tiny bit of them and taste then naked. The beans, not you, but it is summer sooo....Have FUN.
