Guest guest
cooking wines tend to have lots of salt and other stuff you don't need or want. my rule on wine is this: if it's not good enough to drink then it's not good enough to cook with. robin Melissa Hill <assilembob wrote: I want to make this: http://veganfeastkitchen.blogspot.com/2006/06/japanese-noodle-and-tofu-soup.html the recipe calls for Dry Sherry, but I have Sherry Cooking Wine. Guest guest
I don't use cooking sherry, if you take the taste test you will see why. Get a bottle or dry sherry and use it for cooking. To me it's the same is using imitation vanilla or instant mashed potatoes, or tasting that ugly cup that Cup of Noodle soup comes in. Guest guest
Donna, I agree. Inexpensive wine often has lots of bad-for-us additives. Even some of the so-called good stuff has additives. The best wine I ever tasted was some I made. I just made a couple gallons but it sure was fun and a pastor friend sometimes used it for communion..LOL Do you know if 'dry sherry' has additives? What is the purpose of using it in cooking? Taste? Remember I am a country girl and new to this fancy cookin'..LOL Smiles and hugs coming your way Deanna , Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > > I don't use cooking sherry, if you take the taste test you will see why. Guest guest
Yes you can use the cooking sherry. I agree that a real bottle of sherry would be better, but if for lack of time or expense, the cooking sherry will be ok. The added salt isn't harmful, just leave out salt somewhere else in the meal. My 2 cents. Linda and the zoo.
