asparagus , does anyone else break off the bottoms before buying

If the asparagus doesn't snap like you fingers then it's old stuff.

Hey does anyone else break off the bottoms before you buy it? I do but

it's probably not the right thing to do but sometimes I have to cut

half of the stocks off.

Depends if it's sold by the pound or by the bunch & how far I have to
