Guest guest Posted July 14, 2006 Report Share Posted July 14, 2006 Bean Burgers & Horseradish 1 16-ounce can pinto beans, rinsed and well drained 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1/4 cup dry bread crumbs 2 tablespoons chopped green onions 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 egg white or 2 tablespoons cholesterol-free egg product 4 whole wheat hamburger buns, split Horseradish Sauce 4 slices tomato 4 lettuce leaves Horseradish Sauce: 1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish Mix all ingredients. Spray 10-inch nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Mash beans in medium bowl. Mix in cheese, bread crumbs, onions, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, salt and egg white. Shape into 4 patties. Cook in skillet over medium heat about 10 minutes, turning once, until light brown. Serve on buns with Horseradish Sauce, tomato and lettuce. Makes 4 servings. I made a stack of Brad's lentil-potato burgers and enjoy that recipe very much. I'm tired of buying the alternative products. Too expensive and I don't see where they have much taste. My daughter and I have been having a blast testing out bean patty recipes. We both love them way more than anything that comes pre-made in a box from the freezer section.
