Guest guest
Earlier this week I made my first " Magic Loaf " from this page: http://www.veganlunchbox.com/loaf_studio.html I used lentils, quinoa and pecans, plus the veggies and additives like nutritional yeast. It was really good! My youngest devoured it. I'm going to make another today or tomorrow cause I have extra cooked quinoa and lentils! It's so nice to have a the flexibility of generating a recipe. Also, I'm SO excited! Christmas is coming early for me. I ordered a bread machine. I've been wanting one forever! I am now researching cookbooks and there are SO MANY! Can anyone recommend a good bread machine cookbook, particularly one that uses lots of whole grains? I grind my own flour so those weird flours are no problem for me and I'm eager to experiment. So many of the cookbooks seem to primarily use white flour. Thanks, Sharon P.S. Donna, I also tracked down a used copy of a cookbook that you recommend in the files. I think it's called The Vegetarian Bible or something similar. It is out of print, but I found a cheap copy (for $3 I think) on abebooks.com. It came yesterday and those recipes look GREAT!!!!! Do you recommend any in particular? So many tasty options!
Guest guest
I love all of those ingredients. Why don't you write up how much of this and that you added and send it to us. Which bread machine did you choose? It is great that you grind your own grains. They taste so much better don't they. Guest guest
OK, I'll post it. I'm embarassed that I didn't use more veggies, but I didn't have too many in the house. :-) (Bad vegetarian! Bad!) I <gulp> bought the <gulp> Zojiroshi. Again, embarrassed to admit it because they are so so expensive. My toaster oven almost caused a house fire yesterday when heating up some magic loaf leftovers, so I bought one of those too. But, for that, I bought a cheap one that had good reviews. Yes, I mostly grind barley, but I have organic rice, millet, amaranth, corn (for corn flour), etc. The only thing I need to buy is some whole wheat. :-) I can't WAIT to get my new toys! I'm dreaming of fresh bread to go along with my crockpot soup!!! (Yes, the hot weather has finally turned and we are finally having our usual, chilly summer in San Francisco. Fog fog fog. Love it! :-) ) Sharon wwjd wrote: > I love all of those ingredients. Guest guest
Yes, I got a notice that the Zoji won't be shipping for another week. <grumble> I do love the fog, especially after that seemingly endless heat! I vacationed in Pennsylvania earlier this month, so I got both types of heat - muggy/hot and very hot/dry. Yesterday, my 11-year-old daughter stuck a piece of Magic Loaf into the toaster oven and pushed the toast button and she went into the livingroom while I was downstairs in my bedroom/basement/office. Suddenly I heard a very loud buzzing -- similar to a fire alarm. I went running upstairs while she came running into the kitchen. There was smoke pouring from the back of the oven and the room smelled of melted plastic. Thank GOODNESS that oven (which I got as a hand-me-down from my ex-husband) had some sort of failsafe built into it, since neither of us was in the kitchen at the time. So, yes, it could have been very very awful. <shudder> Sharon wwjd wrote: > ...Must of been scary yesterday when your other once almost caught your home on fire. ... >
