Guest guest
I just got back from the grocery store where I saw _red_ quinoa! It was very pretty, but I didn't buy any this time. (I still am using up a box.) The regular quinoa box said " cooks in 10 to 15 minutes " . The same brand's box of red quinoa said " cooks in 15 minutes " . So I guess it's a bit harder. Has anyone tried it? Does it taste differently? It's so pretty in the box! I also noticed on my last trip to the store Tupelo Honey. A small jar was over $13. I didn't buy that either. :-) The label said that it never crystallizes. Clearly a gourmet treat. What I did buy was ingredients for more pressure cooker soups (tomato soup and cauliflower & corn chowder) and ingredients for my new bread machine! It came around 7pm and I've started my first batch of bread. Yes, I'm going to have fresh whole wheat bread just before midnight, but I don't care! :-) (I'll try the timer out next time...) The recipe booklet that came with the machine has a recipe for " Sugar Free Bread " . Get this... the recipe uses fructose instead of sugar. Who are they kidding? They should have called it " Sucrose Free Bread. " :-) I made a smoothie today, of my own design. (My appliances are really getting a workout. Until recently, I've mostly used my blender for making paper and lotions.) It was VERY tasty, though maybe not that original. But, here's the recipe: Pineapple Mango Smoothie 5 or 6 ice cubes 3/4 (to 1) cup unflavored yogurt (I'm gonna make my own yogurt next. :-) ) a tablespoon or so of honey (trupelo if you're feeling decadent) half a ripe mango a very ripe banana Several slices of pineapple along with some of the juice (I used the kind that is packed in its own juice) Let 'er rip in the blender. Guest guest
Oh Sharon, I hope you love your bread maker as much as I love mine. Now I gotta go make some fresh bread tomorrow. It is so much cheaper than store bought. You can also let just prepare the dough and let it rise in loaf pans or stretch it out and make french bread on a pan, or sweet rolls, shape into a bowl that you hollow out for soup, hot dog buns and Veggie burger buns. The Bread Beckers Bread Cookbook is just full of great recipes. I buy Tupelo Honey only. It isn't that expensive at the Farmers Market. Only about $5/qt. I love Tupelo Honey because it doesn't give an overpowering honey flavor in foods you prepare with it. It was recommended by the Bread Beckers at a conference I went to that they had. I didn't know it didn't crysalize, but you must be right, because I have NEVER had it do that. I hadn't even thought about it, until you mentioned it. : ))) I'm glad you are enjoying your pressure cooker. I love mine. I can just smell your bread baking. Nothing makes a house smell quite as good as fresh made bread. I just love it. If you love smoothies, you'll have to check out the Vita - Mix. They are W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L!!! http://www.vita-mix.com/ Here are some smoothie recipes from their website. http://www.vita-mix.com/foodservice/recipes/beverage.asp Have tons of fun. Guest guest
LOL You're very welcome. ; )))) Try and catch them when they are doing a demo at a Sam's Club. Call you local club and they may know of an upcoming date. It is less than $300 when they sell them at their demo's. That is where I got mine from. Saved a lot and it is the same one.
