Guest guest
Thank God for this group! Unlike when I became a vegetarian in '86, I *need* moral support with being Raw.....I've toyed with RF before, but it never lasted more than a couple of weeks here and there. Now I feel I have a great chance of (slowly) becoming and STAYING 100% Raw! Obviously this group is very informative for me! More questions,folks................ 1)raw nuts: what are *best* for consumption, and why? 2)I've seen baseball players consume Gatorade and lots of sunflower seeds:What's a *healthy* alternative? 3)colonics:May I assume correctly that this is bad because it interferes with natural elimination? (wild guess) Thank You!
Guest guest
there's a lot of groups that could help you out but this is the one i'm at. i plan to cut out raw nuts, they just run right through me in the form of bowel movements for the most part anyway. but i eat them for now, mostly for emotional needs. i tend to not be able to stop eating them when i want to, which is an indicator that they're not food for me. rawfood , Faith Nykiel <faithindacubs> wrote: > Thank God for this group! Guest guest
To your questions.... 1) Always soak your nuts (and seeds) because they contain an enzyme that is not digestible. When you soak them, they start to sprout and the enzyme is released. I can't find a good sprout chart reference online at the moment. Does anyone know of a good one? I use Dr. Cousen's chart from his cookbook " Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine. " Perhaps I'll type it in later. 2) Instead of Gatorade, use Young Coconut water. It's nature's electrolife. It's amazing and healing. For the sunflower seeds, soak some and dehydrate at a low temp with some celtic sea salt on them. Or mexican spices. 3) Colonics: A personal choice. When people first start eating raw food their body naturally starts detoxing. All of the toxins are eliminated through the colon and bowel movements. Most people are constipated. If a person eats 3 meals a day, they should have 4 bowel movements a day. One in the morning and one 30 to 60 minutes after each meal. Anything less is constipation. Colonics help to get all the yucky stuff out that has been caked in all the crevices for years and years. Personally, I don't think they are a lifetime commitment, but once or twice a week for a month, and then upkeep can do a whole lotta good. Really, it depends on your level of toxicity. For example, I have a potential client that is addicted to pain pills. As they are cleansing I will have them at the colon therapist every other day, and on a ton of probiotics (plus other stuff). Talk to some colon therapists in your area to see what they have to say. Always make sure you are on a good Probiotic, too. I like Garden of Life - Primal Defense.
