Guest guest
Check out Storm and Jinjee's site: www.thegardendiet.com. He's a raw foodist and a body builder:) I bought their e-books and in the package ($20), is one specifically about that. Also, keep it simple. You don't HAVE to go gourmet all the time. I just started doing this a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving it!!! All I have appliance-wise is a blender. My toaster oven says it dehydrates, but I don't know for sure at what temperature. I also found a great gadget at Linens-N-Things by " Good Cooks " - a julienne peeler!! For only $6 I have a great hand tool for making zucchini spaghetti (which I've been topping with a fresh homemade bruschetta)! Some great books I can recommend are: 12 Steps to Raw Foods (How to end your addiction to cooked foods)- Victoria Boutenko (she has a family website) RAW...the Un-Cookbook - Juliano The Raw Gourmet - Nomi Shannon (she also has a website) Raw Foods for Busy People - Jordan Maerin 10 Minutes to Raw - Bryan Au Instant Raw Sensations: The Easiest, Simplest, Most Delicious Raw- Food Recipes Ever! - Frederic Patenaude (he has his own website) I've also started sprouting. You can make your own sprout jars from one-quart wide-mouthed mason jars and plastic canvas relatively cheaply:) Welcome to raw foods:) Debra rawfood , " whateverwhenever007 " <whateverwhenever007> wrote: > > Hi everyone, i've been registered with this group for a while now but > i've finally decided to go raw and start the raw food diet, i have bad > acne on my forehead that never seems to go away, and i want to start > taking gluthoine(sp) pills, but have been told that going raw will > help the pills absorb more effectively and the results far impressive. > > so what i wanted to know how do i start? were can i get a timetable on > what to eat? im totally clueless to this.. you all seem like a he;pful > informative bunch so i was hoping you could help me. > > Also i wanted to know is the raw food diet beneficial if i want to > start weight lifting, i have the right excess fat that i was to turn > into muscle and hopefully tone up and gets the abs etc..so can this be > achieved while eating raw.. i would really appreciate the advice.. > > kind regards >

Guest guest
as I painted one end with umeboshi plum paste (to ensure the seal and add flavor - I need to find a good alternative). ** I just use water to seal my nori rolls. It works over 95% of the time. I dip my fingers in water and smear it on the end of the roll. If it gets wet enough, it seals, no prob. Flavor is another issue, though. What about using an asian inspired dressing? I've been eating live food off and on for the past several years and am having more success recently since including sprouted grain - and systematizing my sprouting. Before including sprouted grain, I felt air-headed and ungrounded. According to Gabriel Cousens, Conscious Eating p. 686: the high phosphorus content of grains is good for the nervous system and brain ... sprouted grains are helpful in transitioning because they are more filling. I have found that to be true for myself. The grains only needed to be soaked over night to be soft enough to eat - or I let them sprout a day or two. It's all good. I don't have a system for them yet. Barley and spelt are my favorites so far. I sprout alfalfa in 7 seven jars, so I have one jar ready to use each day. I have different colored rubber bands around them to keep track of which one is ready to use next. I keep all the jars in one large bowl so they are easy to carry to the sink for rinsing. Immediately when I empty a jar, I clean it and start a new batch of seeds soaking. I live in Washington State and try to eat local foods as much as possible. Luckily I live and work in an organic/permaculure garden so I have access to kale, weeds, edible flowers etc. outside my door. Here's a sample of a typical day for me Morning: usually fruit - usually apples or pears Sometimes when I know I have heavy outdoor work to do, or I'm hungry that morning, I eat a bowl of sprouts, sprouted grain, and soaked raisins or apricots - sometimes I sprinkle cinnamon on it. Otherwise I have it for lunch. Lunchtime or dinner: Salad of grated cucumber, greens, diced avocado or raw sesame tahini, sometimes with grated broccoli stalks for a tangy flavor. Snacks: Sometimes soaked almonds - I like to sit and peel the skin off them - they have amazing shapes. I prefer filberts because they are native to this area, but it must have been a poor crop this year because they are very expensive. Carrot sticks. More apples. Sometimes I have bananas. I'm going to try soaking walnuts to mix with apples, celery and soaked raisins. I eat everything at room temperature or body temperature. I try to finish eating by 6 or 7 pm. I try to drink warmed water 30 minutes before I eat. I don't make gourmet recipes - yet anyway. The best tasting recipes to me so far have a few fresh ingredients. I'm looking forward to springtime when a bouquet of heavenly sweet brassica flowers is my favorite meal. I got a Norwalk Food Factory/Juicer off Craig's List and use it once a week or so to get a boost of extra greens, celery and carrots. A friend showed me how to make ice cream with frozen bananas and that will be a simple treat to make - it won't be warm though Best, Joyce
Guest guest
Thanks Robert, i liked your advice. two weeks of just orange juice? like no solid foods or evian water or anuthing, yikes! hmm.. maybe i will try that, i've been on another forum were there is a raw foodist and she said that to achieve best results your body needs to be alkaline first to get rid of parasites and cleanse fully. do you reckon that i can switch to raw 100% by starting next week, i've got the breakfast part sorted (the green juice that i mentioned) just need a lunch and a dinner raw sorted and im good to go. I understand what you mean i have to work out to get the lean and cut look. but going raw will allow me to get the essential protein i need right?ok im going to do this, i keep hearing that my skin will look better (whenever i shave it looks dull and i look bad lol) and my dry as flip flops hair will turn better in quality, than thats an advantage ok i'll try and find some lunch and dinner recipes but if you have any you'd like to share i would appreciate it, (remember im 19yrs old and need some exictment..lol) oh and can I still drink evian water? I've compared tap water to evian and the difference is amazing. regards rawfood , " whateverwhenever007 " <whateverwhenever007> wrote: >
Guest guest
woaa thats Bob im really start to like this raw food group, you all seem like friendly and geniune people. ok i want to start like over the weekend, so your saying water (evian ofcourse) is the best option? i mean wont i feel sick in the morning just getting up and drinking water, will i get the energy i need as oppose to go on a orange juice diet? i mean im at college and have to do alot of walking so i dont want to collapse, and im dreading the headaches im going to get from not drinking tea ..lol.. but its worth it eh?! so you reckon i can drink like tropicana 100% pure orange juice or will i have to juice raw oranges? and the green juice just for two weeks sounds expensive when it adds up, so i'll think i'll leave that as a breakfast option when i start going raw. hmmm... im really focused and more determined now, im thinking of sticking to the two week alkaline plan, either water or orange juice than go raw and see what happens, im a student so kinda broke, so i reckon i'll have to loan some books from the public library. im not so much worried about the colds, just dont want it to interfere with my studies, thats all, besides im 6 " 3 and slim (not skinny) apart from the belly lol. no i intend to exercise, im doing it right now. i exercise every day. I saw the pics of the body builder and even though it was positive his stomach looked abit odd, like he had broad shoulders and then a small stomach, if that makes sense, basically it didnt even out. maybe im being paranoid and thats just because of his training techinique. Im still alittle fuzzy on what to eat, so i reckon im going to stick to fruits and salads but i do need a big meal, oh can u explain what is meant by percentages of 'how raw you raw' i mean im determinded but like once a week i would like to eat pasta cooked, surely its impossible and quite digusting to eat it out because u have to cook it and then it becomes floppy and the sauce heats up etc. i apoligize for all the questions, just trying to get as much info as possible. regards rawfood , " whateverwhenever007 " <whateverwhenever007> wrote: > > Thanks Robert, i liked your advice. two weeks of just orange juice? > like no solid foods or evian water or anuthing, yikes! hmm.. maybe i > will try that, i've been on another forum were there is a raw > foodist and she said that to achieve best results your body needs to > be alkaline first to get rid of parasites and cleanse fully. > > do you reckon that i can switch to raw 100% by starting next week, > i've got the breakfast part sorted (the green juice that i > mentioned) just need a lunch and a dinner raw sorted and im good to > go. > > I understand what you mean i have to work out to get the lean and > cut look. but going raw will allow me to get the essential protein i > need right?ok im going to do this, i keep hearing that my skin will > look better (whenever i shave it looks dull and i look bad lol) and > my dry as flip flops hair will turn better in quality, than thats an > advantage > > ok i'll try and find some lunch and dinner recipes but if you have > any you'd like to share i would appreciate it, (remember im 19yrs > old and need some exictment..lol) oh and can I still drink evian > water? Guest guest
Trinity Springs Water is a bottled water that is naturally rich in silicon. Silicon rich diets leads to beautiful teeth and jaw formation, helps prevent cavities, prevents bleeding gums and gum atrophy. It is considered the yoga mineral because it assist with healthy muscle tissue development that will allow more flexibility and elasticity in the muscle. You can find it at the health food store or online. whatever whenever <whateverwhenever007 wrote: whats trinity water? why is it better than evian mineral? whats the difference between mineral and spring water? Guest guest
Trinity water is water from a certain geothermally active area (near Yellowstone, I believe), and yes it is very rich in minerals. It comes in at least two varieties -- a yellow label and a blue label. The yellow label is " full strength, " and the blue label has been diluted down about 50%. Even the folks at Trinity recommend only one yellow-label bottle per day, I believe, due to the high concentration of minerals. I usually go for the blue label, to play it safe, but yes, it is very good water. rawfood , Kimse Fard <kimse@i...> wrote: > > Trinity Springs Water is a bottled water that is naturally rich in silicon. Guest guest
The pH of the Trinity water is 9.6. It's very alkaline in nature. The body tries to maintain the blood pH at 7.3. But depending on the level of acidity, it may not necessarily able to do it. You can help body by drinking alkaline water to maintain the pH close to 7.3. More the pH below 7.3, more the body is acidic & it's more prone to get diseases and problems. I have been drinking Trinity water for a while now. It has helped me to improve my pH level on daily basis. I test my urine in the morning and some times in the afternoon with a particular pH paper product to monitor the pH of blood. I found that Trinity water has helped me quite a bit. Cheers, - Hemant. Photos Ring in the New Year with Photo Calendars. Add photos, events, holidays, whatever. Guest guest
Thanks i sincerely appreciate your advice, i keep deciding shall i go raw, shall i not? u know just thinking what im giving up, then when i see my bad skin in the mirror im more determined, just a question how long will it take to start seeing noticeable results with the glowing skin, healthy hair etc? anyways i went out today and purchased all the stuff for the green juice every morning along with 2 packs of juicing oranges and a big gallon of buxton mineral water and 6 small bottles of spring water (for college) and some organic mixture of nuts and fruit, and organic raisons. so i was thinking when i start cleansing my system which i will most definately have to do? i mean i cant just start eating raw or it will take way longer? can i do the cleansing for a week instead of the two week version? im thinking of oranges, juiced and eaten solid and also pure mineral water, but thats it, just for a week, is that ok? i've had cooked food today so i'll start tomorow, oh p.s i also have a bad sore throat and cough so is it wise for me to be having orange juice as its kind of sour? Guest guest
Few things could be better for you than fresh-squeezed orange juice if you're coming down with a cold (you might try diluting it with water, so you can drink more of it without overloading on calories, sugar, acidity). Also, in my opinion, going raw and/or vegan/vegetarian is cleansing enough that you do not have to do a separate, prior, " cleansing " fast. It *may* help, but I doubt it is necessary. When I went vegetarian on New Year's Day 17 years ago, I witnessed amazing changes in that first month. First of all, I lost 10 pounds, but did not lose any inches anywhere -- which led me to ask, " What WAS that 10 pounds? " Probably just crap (literally?) that my body was being cleansed of thanks to my new diet. Also, during that first month, my urine took on a strong ammonia smell for a week or two -- again, I believe I was detoxing, cleansing. Not because I was following a " cleanse, " specifically, but because I was eating only fruits and vegetables and whole grains -- all naturally cleansing. Sounds like you are very close to starting. Don't throw another delay tactic in your path. Also, if you have skin/acne issues, I highly recommend a dietary supplement called Skin Factors, by Michael's Naturopathics. It takes a " cleansing " approach -- it is a nutritional supplement that includes milk thistle and dandelion and other cleansing herbs, and gets at the root of the issue for lots of people. Available at many health food stores, or online. Guest guest
Hi, Body cleansing is a great idea and so does going raw ! When someone makes a basic fundamental change in lifestyle, most of the time he/she goes to through a doubtful stage first. The old lifestyle or habbit or pattern wants to hold them back. I have few suggestions which might help you to move through this stage. 1. When you are extremely clear in your mind about your transition, at that time on a paper, write down what pain or suffering the old patten is causing and what benefits you will get from the raw food. Write down as many as possible points for each of them. Whenever you are in doubtful situation go through what you wrote on paper to refresh your mind as to why your are doing the transition. 2. Use the internet to your advantage. Besides this mailing group, there are a lot of websites about rawfoodism. Go through them. You will find inspiring stories of how people have made the transition and how it has been life changing experience. You will find some stories that will resonate with you. 3. Find a person locally who has gone though similar transition. Talk him/her whenever you are in doubtful situation. Body cleanses itself everyday. It's ongoing process. But our lifestyles interfere with it and slow down the process. Whenever we eat food, after digestion is complete, the blood becomes thick which slows down the cleansing process substantially. The heavier the food and larger the quantity, slower the cleansing process. Eating food and cleansing works against each other in general. Some specific food slows down the cleansing quite a bit. For example, salt slows down the cleansing. On other side, fasting on water will put body in cleansing mode all the time through out the day. Fasting on water along with hydrocolon therapy would be the best way to do cleansing. But it's extremely hard, very few people can do it. It's not meant for beginners. Most of the people do somewhere in between. For example fasting on juices. Switching from meat based diet to vegeterian/vegan diet, gives body more time & chance to cleanse. Simillary, switching from vegeterian/vegan to raw vegan diet, gives body more time & chance to cleanse as the raw vegan food is quickly digested and doesn't have things that blocks the cleansing process in general. I suggest following simple guidelines for cleansing. 1.Read as much as possible on cleansing, educate yourself, be aware of what you want to do, why you want to do and how to do it. This is very important. 2. Be gentle on your body during the cleansing. I have read few books on cleansing and fasting. Also, I read quite a bit on internet. I found that most of the people recommend to go into the cleansing step by step. Slowly reduce the food intake until your reach stage of full cleansing you want. After the cleanse is over, slowly step by step go back to the normal routine. For example, on first step, for few days, you can substitute break fast with fruit juice. In the second step, substitute one more meal with juices. Continue this way until you substitute the all the meals with juices. Simillarly, once the cleanse is over go back to the normal routine step by step. 3. Plan your cleanse very well. Plan all your meals very well. This will help you to avoid situations where you could break the cleanse. For example, in the office, you could become hungry and end up eating something you don't want to during the cleanse. You can take a orange or two with you incase you become hungry. I am not trying to discourage you from cleansing. Cleansing is a great idea. I am sharing my knowledge based on my reading and my own cleansing experience. I hope this helps. Cheers, - Hemant. whatever whenever <whateverwhenever007 wrote: Thanks i sincerely appreciate your advice, i keep deciding shall i go raw, shall i not? u know just thinking what im giving up, then when i see my bad skin in the mirror im more determined, just a question how long will it take to start seeing noticeable results with the glowing skin, healthy hair etc? anyways i went out today and purchased all the stuff for the green juice every morning along with 2 packs of juicing oranges and a big gallon of buxton mineral water and 6 small bottles of spring water (for college) and some organic mixture of nuts and fruit, and organic raisons. so i was thinking when i start cleansing my system which i will most definately have to do? i mean i cant just start eating raw or it will take way longer? can i do the cleansing for a week instead of the two week version? im thinking of oranges, juiced and eaten solid and also pure mineral water, but thats it, just for a week, is that ok? i've had cooked food today so i'll start tomorow, oh p.s i also have a bad sore throat and cough so is it wise for me to be having orange juice as its kind of sour? Guest guest
Thanks guys, i appreciate your help. I was reading other peoples comments and i think just going on the orange juice diet for two weeks is bad especially if i am a beginner, this is my suggested plan, let me know what you think breakfast : green juice and a apple or banana (i've heard the green juice might be digusting in taste but i reckon i can handle it with my hands over my nose..lol. I heard its amazing so it has to be beneficial, after all its about sacrifices right.) lunch: mixed salad. snack: raw organic nuts/fruit dinner: probably standard food like home cooked to start with but limiting myself then when i get some more ideas on raw recipes for dinner i can slowly transition. but making sure its vegeterian, i eat meat but dont think it will be hard to give it up. And during the day drink loads of pure mineral or spring water. and in the evening exercise and work out for like 45 mins a day. so what you reckon? no im from the UK but will try and find 'Skin Factors, by Michael's Naturopathics' as you mentioned, hope it helps. also if i cut milk out how will i get my calcium? I would say i would like to see an improvement in skin and mind etc in a month or six weeks because thats probably when i will have university interviews and i want to impress them, because as much of them say its not important, physical appearance does matter especially with the course i want to do. regards Hemant Yevale <hemanty wrote: Hi, Body cleansing is a great idea and so does going raw ! Guest guest
Hi. The plan looks good ! I think it's good start to be rawfoodist ! There is enough calcium and infact most of the minerals in dark green vegetables. Also, there is enough calcium in nuts like almonds etc. I think it's great idea that you are trying rawfood. The cleansing can happen at differece pace for different people. It's hard to predict when you will see improvement in skin. Everyone's body is different. You may see results sooner or later. One of my friend does hydrocolon therapy on regular basis. She says that her skin becomes immediately better after couple of hydrocolon therapy session. I heard similar things from people who have done colonics. It's not easy for most of the people to percieve the idea of hydrocolon therapy. But it has produced one of the best and fastest results for some people. Hope this helps ! Cheers, - Hemant. whatever whenever <whateverwhenever007 wrote: Thanks guys, i appreciate your help.
