Guest guest
I'm 10 days into my re-introduction to raw foods. I'm freezing. Seriously. I'm sitting here shivering at this very moment. During the day I set the thermostat to 68, which has been and still is fine for me, but at night I usually turn the temp down to about 64 or 65 degrees. Normally this has never bothered me, and I spent time at the computer in the evening without ever really noticing. But for the past few days I have been really cold. I wake up in the middle of the might cold, and I can't fall back to sleep because I'm uncomfortable. Finally last night I gave up and came downstairs around 2:00 am, wrapped myself in a few layers of blankets, turned up the heat, and sat on the sofa until I was warm enough to get back to sleep. I know my thyroid function is ideal because I just recently had it tested. Is there a possibility that I'm missing something from my diet? I'm pretty sure that I get adequate fats, but I think that I've been a bit lax about getting enough protein in during the past five days. Does anyone have any experience with this? -Lee
Guest guest
I am the same way. The cold never bothered me before (I'm 5 weeks into raw) but it really does now. I just can't get warm. We're not eating those saturated animal fats, and losing weight (fat) also (at least I am) At least, in the summer, maybe the heat won't be so bothersome. windflower jan Lee <bantling wrote: I'm 10 days into my re-introduction to raw foods. Guest guest
I would drink good organic green tea and sometimes Pacific broth, either veggie or non-chicken broth. Who says being raw means cold. Let your salads sit out at room temp for awhile also helps. Jane
Guest guest
Oh, I haven't given up my tea! I simply cannot part with that " indulgence " , nor do I feel it a particularly harmful one. I like green, but I also have a deep love for Honest T's black assam. Sometimes I stop drinking it for days, weeks, and even months when I don't have a desire for it, but I doubt if I'll ever give it up forever. Warm veggie broth sounds delightful. Also, I was thinking about how when I was a little girl, me and my Grandmother would walk out to her garden and pluck tomatoes right off the vine, and eat them still warm from the sun. They were so wonderful and delicious. I have two single pane windows in my kitchen, and maybe I'll try setting some tomatoes up there on the sill to soak up the sun. If you have low-e windows, it won't work, but older style windows will. And yes, I've been letting my salads out. It not only warms them, but lets the ingredients meld and the taste heighten. darocksmom wrote: > I would drink good organic green tea and sometimes Pacific broth, either > veggie or non-chicken broth.
