Guest guest
If u cant afford a brand new Machine there are TONS of em used in excellent condtion for cheap prices on Ebay ! I bought the Juicer Omega 8001 for $60 and it is excellent. DO NOT buy for Juicing Greens either the champion or the Solostar1, ive used them extensively for a long time, they are horrible, they get clogged very easy and heat up fast and are a mess to clean. The Purpose to juicing is to Juice Greens, that is where the real Nutrition is.... pure fruit juice is damaging on the teeth and contains way too much concentrated Sugar.... be smart , GO GREEN ! Listen to Raw Food Expert DAVID WOLFE, his main overall message is GO GREEN and tons of em , eat and juice a variety of green vegetables Dave
Guest guest
Greetings Everyone! I'm a newbie to this list and to raw foods and am looking to learn as much as I can as I start this journey. Lots of people recommend the Vitamix for smoothies. But there are several models. Which is the best? And what would you guys recommend for a great juicer? Is there one appliance that can do both? Thanks for your help! Cheers~ Carol
Guest guest
sell your house, betray your childrens future, and find the most outrageously expensive piece of machinery that ostentation and gullibility can provide. or, if you're like me, poor and cheap, i'd remember that one of the leading proponents of the raw movement (i wish i could remember her name) back-pedaled from juicing to smooshing. i bought a nice mid-priced blender at WallyWorld for about $30-$40. Guest guest
Carol any vitamix is great! But I recommend the one that has 2 speeds and a dial. You can ratchet up the power without and it's very helpful. With apologies to Dennis as I have not sold my house or ruined my kid's future, and still love the Vita Mix. You'll find many other's do to. Lane - no-thing rawfood Thursday, February 09, 2006 1:06 PM [Raw Food] blender/juicer recommendations Greetings Everyone! Guest guest
I have a vita-mix and I love it. It definately makes a difference in the smoothness of smoothies and soups. The downfall is they are pricey. I bought an Oster 16speed till I could get the vita-mix and was happy with it. It did a good job it just took a little longer. I was much happier with the cheap $29 oster than with the kitchenaid that broke after 1 week. I have a Solostar 2 juicer that I really like also. I find it easy to clean and does a good job at extracting the juice from leafy greens and misc veggies. I like it much better than my friends twin gear juicer when juicing apples. I found the twin gear left lots of apple tidbits in the juice. I prefer smooth juices so if that doesn't bother you then it is not a big deal. Anyway, these are my .02 on the juicers and blenders. Have a great day, Heather Greetings Everyone! I'm a newbie to this list and to raw foods and am looking to learn as much as I can as I start this journey. Guest guest
I know that many of you will cringe at this question, but why do you use the juicer when eating the whole fruit/veggies gives you the fiber? I also find that juicing requires such an outlay in money to buy enough of the fruit/veggies to make enough juice that it is a bit costly for me since I eat organic. linda " Heather " <nrcysus69 > I have a Solostar 2 juicer that I really like also. Guest guest
There are days when I am just not hungry....so I will juice. I also prefer a cool glass of freshly squeezed juice on a hot day. linda <lindai81 wrote: I know that many of you will cringe at this question, but why do you use the juicer when eating the whole fruit/veggies gives you the fiber? Guest guest
juice comes in my fruit. i enjoy eating produce. i hope i'm healthy. produce good. organic especially good if it's easily available. leafy greens are pretty good like lettuce and spinach. i eat broccoli, carrots and other vegetables but i don't like them as much as fruit. apples are okay. > " Heather " <nrcysus69 > I like it much better than my friends twin gear juicer when juicing > apples. Guest guest
Lane and Linda, As far as I've researched, jucing is particularly beneficial if you are fasting or have an illness or degenerative disease, because juicing does extract more of the nutrients and enzymes from the tiny fiber capsules. Chewing the whole food supposedly does not sufficiently break open most of the fiber capsules. I sometimes add the pulp back into the juice for fiber, or mash it into a patty to make a veggie burger. -Tiffany Lane Martin <lanie wrote: I never juice. But I do blend.
