Guest guest
I feel the same way...I've been trying to go raw for about two months now but I'm finding it very difficult to say the least. I think I'm starting at a disadvantage because I wasn't even vegetarian before...so not only do I have to cut out meat and dairy, I have to cut out breads and rice and pasta too! It's very hard for me because I've never liked salads...I love fruit but I can't just eat that all day! And I don't have the time to create all these complicated dehydrated meals....I really don't know how I'll ever be successful at raw eating. I keep trying but after a few days I just need something with more substance. Especially when I know all I have to look forward to is a salad, and I've never liked them. " T. M. Smoothies, salads, whole fruits and veggies, sprouts? I don't do much food prep myself and am finding that most of the nut laden recipies are just way to rich for me. I generally have a smoothie for breakfast, an avacado smushed up with a spice or two and some flax crackers for lunch, or a big salad. Then dinner the most complicated thing I have had is rawvioli (gtelevision's website) but I generally stick to salads, perhaps a wrap filled with raw hummus and sprouts... simple stuff. Guest guest
Jennifer: I admire you, you took a giant step forward. I have been raw for 7-8 months now and am still learning. I bought a bunch of books with recepies in it. I will suggest four books: Raw Food Real World, Ling on Live Food, The complete book of Raw Food and The raw truth. I have a great many more but this should help you. Got really frustrated in the beginning as many recepies takes days of prep. Soaking the nuts, dehydrating crackers/ burgers etc. I am still struggeling at times but slowly I am starting to figure it out. Now, I never soak the nuts anymore. Not worth the hassle (to me). I dehydrate a whole bunch of crackers so that I have a good supply on hand. Also, in the raw movement I have learned that everybody seems to have different opinions as to what is best. Some eat lots of bananas, other authors tell you not to eat them. Some eat lots of fruit others only have it rarely and as a desert. Bottomline, follow what your body tells you. Try to find a local support group and attend their meeting/ potlucks. You learn a lot from them. I like soups as that gives me a break from the salad taste. I use a Vitamix and whip it on high so that the soup will warm up a bit. I love my carrot ginger soup. The trick in the beginning is to find quick to make recepies. Quick deserts if you grave something sweet. For example: I put a 2 cups of almonds in my cuisinard and make it into a coarde flour. Not too long. Put some in a bowl. Put some Agave syrup on it (Only a little) Top it off with your favourite berries. And you got yourself a great desert and filling. Take a large leave of salad or kale (a little bitter in the beginning) put a slice of avocado on it and spoon some salsa on top of that. Then roll it up and eat it. Takes 2 minutes. Or a cracker and put raw almond butter, banana slices and agave syrup on it Oh my. rOBERT >
Guest guest
The other post was great advice...here's some more.... Try finding recipe's on the internet by googling 'raw food recipes' or 'live food recipes'. A few good places to start are: www.fromsadtoraw.com www.living-foods.com/recipes/ There really are so many choices, you don't have to limit yourself to salads! Guest guest
Hi ya You should go at a pace that is comfortable for your body. Why not go for one raw meal a day or even try something raw in a meal a day if that is too much. As long as you are heading in the right direction slowly it is better than stopping and starting. Have you read anything on transitioning ? Kirk - " Jennifer Corris " <jencorris <rawfood > Monday, February 20, 2006 10:32 PM [Raw Food] I don't like salads. Guest guest
CAROL ALT the super model has been eating raw for 8 years now and she has written a fabulous book about it. Its called CAROL ALT EATING IN THE RAW Here is her web site: http://www.carolalt.com/ I bought her book on amazon, and have seen it on ebay as well as in book stores! Her book was SO easy to read (not a lot of techy talk) and she walks you through it, has a bunch of tips, and recipies! I thought it was a very well written book, very inspiring and motivating. I have never been able to stick to any kind of eating plan. But something about her book really clicked with me and its been a full month now since I went raw and I am still at it and loving it. Just my two cents worth! Peace!
