Guest guest
Hi, just joined the list but not new to eating raw. Some time back I went on a primarily raw diet(probably 70 to 80 percent) for a few weeks. I lost too much weight. I am not very big to begin with and so even loosing as much as 10 lbs made a big difference. At first I felt good, but then began to feel weak as my weight came off. So for now, I still eat raw daily (my breakfast is completely raw and I usually eat something raw with the other two meals and drink veggie juice in between), but diet is not completely raw. So I was just wondering if any of you have had a problem with eating raw and loosing too much weight. Belinda
Guest guest
Unfortunately not I - However, I do have some advice for you as far as the weight goes. Try eating a higher fat diet. Fat is not bad or evil - unless its cooked. We require fat from the plant world for our body to run efficiently. Some people need more than others. Eat at least an avocado a day. Use oil based dressings - Udo's oil is a great balanced one. Make smoothies and / or puddings with young coconuts for breakfast or desserts. Take a few tablespoons of Flax oil (or Udo's) every day. My weight was " dropping " off and that was not all that bad but being an avid weightlifter (not bodybuilder) I too felt my " core " strength diminish. I've settled (with myself) to being about 70% raw, the rest veggie. -- Bill Schoolcraft <> http://wiliweld.com " If your life was full of nothing but sunshine, you would just be a desert. Guest guest
You might try consuming more greens. In Victoria Boutenko's book 'Green For Life', some of the green smoothie participants said they gained weight during the 30 days. I can't remember if this example was from the book or another group I'm in, but someone else said their very thin husband gained 20 pounds in 30 days. It's worth a try! Green smoothies are so good for you too! At Tue, 21 Feb 2006 it looks like Belinda composed: > Hi, just joined the list but not new to eating raw. Guest guest
I do not think it is raw that is the problem, but what you are eating. Do you eat any meat? Guest guest
True, but there are some problems with fat. Like everything else we can eat too much. Our society's diseases are a product of excess as much or more then mal nutrition. There is also the wrong kind of fats problem. Guest guest
I also lost quite a bit of weight on the raw food diet. I became physically weak. I love to play sports. Since I became weak I didn't have enough energy and stamina to play sports. I started injuring myself. I decided to stop playing for a while & rebuild my strength. In last two months I changed my raw food diet to eat more fat combined with dark green veggies. Also, I decided to eat more fruits. This increased my total calorie intake which helped me to add around 10 lbs of weight in two months. Now, I have started experiencing better strength & stamina. I have started working out regularly. My food is around 95% raw. For fat, I ate - avocados, young cocount, olives, nuts & seeds. I combined the fat with dark green veggies as fats are acid forming and veggies compensate with it's alkalinity. I typically eat five times a day. Each time eat quite a bit. Also, it's important not to eat constantly as it fires up metabolism and you ultimately get less calories at the end. I hope this helps ! Cheers, - Hemant.
