Guest guest
What kind of juicers to ya'll have and what do you think about them? I have had a Jack Lalanne juicer for over a year now, and I do like it. My only complaint is that it is messy. If I don't hang a paper towel over the spout, it slings juice everywhere. It isn't much good for leafy greens and grasses, so I am thinking of getting one that is. I have my eye on an Omega 8005 or 8003. Also, do you like juicing the wheat grass and other greens? Do you drink it straight or add other stuff to it? Like carrots, apples, etc. It is quite a bit more expensive than my Jack Lalane juicer and I am wondering if I will use it as much. Guest guest
Belinda; A Green Star or Green Power or Kempo twin Auger is in my opinion the best. As I have stated before I owned an Omega they are good machines but just not like the ones I mentioned. Also, be careful in mixing fruit and vegetables, in general it is a poor combination. In fact if I may say so, I believe that a lot of Raw fooders consume way too much fruit and sweet types of foods. Be careful about that. Guest guest
I actually just bought an Omega 8005 at the first of February. I love it! I had an old centrifugal one (like Jack Lalane's), though it was some off brand. I was so tired of cleaning it and didn't like the juice it was making. The Omega is really easy to clean, I can make large amounts of juice without ever having to stop to clean it out. I mostly make green juice and it works great! My usual combo is Celery, Kale, Parsley, Apple and Lemon. I have made citrus juices with it too and those are really yummy. It's very sturdy and has a strong motor. It does seem to produce more foam, but it has a screen to catch that as it comes out so it doesn't get in the drink. Also, the feeding tube is smaller than the Jack Lalane, so you would spend a little more time cutting veggies. But really not much. I purchased mine from here: https://www.storesonline.com/site/520450/product/16 Paula Belinda <MistyBlueTN wrote: What kind of juicers to ya'll have and what do you think about them? Guest guest
The vita-mix is a blender - it can also be used as a food processor, and to pulp fruits & veggies into smoothies:-) It also makes ice creams from fruits and ice, as well as soups, salsas, and other stuff... Guest guest
Do you find the Omega 8005 easier to clean than your centrifugal? That's great. I had read that several of the juicers with augers were hard to clean. Especially the twin gear type. I do like my Jack Lalane because it has the bigger feed tube, but have read that the centrifugal types put air in the juice, oxidizing it faster. Though I like the Omega 8003 because it is white, I am thinking the 8005 which is chrome, would be easier to keep clean. I know from my current white juicer how it stains. I juice alot of carrots with a little apple, and sometimes squash, cucumber, turnip, etc. when I have them. I also like beets in place of the apple, but they are really sweet. I am thinking that I would like some of the greens juiced in with the carrots. Not sure if I would like the greens by themselves. I hate celery, and not too crazy about parsley. I am really interested in trying the wheatgrass. That is if I can grow it myself. Lemon sound good too. I have never tried that. As for the foam, my Jack Lalane juicer does that too. So I am use to it. Can you juice carrots in it? Or should I keep my Jack Lalane handy for most of the non-leaf/grass types? Belinda > I actually just bought an Omega 8005 at the first of February. Guest guest
I have not tried juicing carrots in it yet. It handles ginger well. Also the celery....I imagine it will handle the carrots. Perhaps I can get my son to drink some carrot juice this morning and report back.....I am just not attracted to carrot juice right now. Oh, and it's easy enough for him to take apart, clean, and put back together - he's 11. Yes, I like the chrome of the 8005. It doesn't stain. lala Belinda <MistyBlueTN wrote: Do you find the Omega 8005 easier to clean than your centrifugal? That's great. Guest guest
Hi Paula, This Omega sounds good. Do you know if you can store the juice from this juicer for 4 - 6 hours. I really need one that I can make it the morning of because I'm back at work. Thanks, Denise In a message dated 2/22/2006 4:43:45 PM Eastern Standard Time, rawfood writes: Paula Wood <wolfmother1 Re: Juicer ? I actually just bought an Omega 8005 at the first of February.
