Guest guest
How do you all eat your avocados? I am thinking that I don't like them, because I don't like guacamola(sp?). I think it taste weird and have always blamed that on the avocado that it is made from. Are avocados a good thing? Belinda
Guest guest
Hi, Belinda, I learned to like avocados when I was 12 years old. The way I like them is just about any way they can be fixed. The simplest way is to cut them in two length-wise and scoop the flesh out with a spoon and eat it. Some people like to drench it with lemon or lime juice and maybe a sprinkle of sea salt but I like them just the way they are. I'll cut half of one up in a salad, too, now and then. Avocado is good for you in moderation. They are very high in fat. Don't mix them with sweet fruit. I've seen some recipes which mix them with bananas but they take longer to digest than the fruit which can set up fermentation in the stomach. If you eat avocado any other time than the last meal of the day, allow four hours for it to leave the stomach before you eat something else. The same is true for nuts and seeds. It takes that long for the stomach to process fat. If you don't like them, that's okay, too. You don't have to eat what you don't like. Guest guest
In salads, in soups etc. they are important for a rawfooder because we need some kind of fats. roert w > > " Belinda " <MistyBlueTN > 2006/03/02 Thu AM 06:24:18 PST > rawfood > [Raw Food] Avocado ? > >
Guest guest
Thanks Tommie, I will try this. I usually like anything that contains a lot of fat. ) I love nuts of all kinds. And one of my favoite meats (I know, I know) has always been pork, especially the ribs, which of course has a lot of fat. (hey, I am from the south, what can I say) Not to worry, I have not eat any in a very long time. It really doesn't even sound that good to me anymore. You know, I think what we like to eat is really more of a habit than anything else. The more raw fruits and veggies I eat, the more I want them instead of the other stuff.
