Guest guest
Which blender is the best? Mine just broke. I had a BOSCHE. I know Vita mix heats up your food - but does it always heat it up? What are the other brands out there they you love?? Also there are two dehydrators that I see that everyone likes. Excalibur and Nesco or something??? HELP. Guest guest
hi judy, i purchased a k-tec (home blender) about 1-2 months back and LOVE it!! i did a ton of research before buying (between vitamix and k-tec) and ultimately decided to go with the k-tec. lots of HP, great reviews, and it fits perfect in my kitchen (it's smaller than the vitamix) which was important to me (not that much space) - if you get a vitamix or k-tec you will not go wrong. . . both comes with 7-10 years warranty (depending model) i have not experience with dehydrators. . . good luck! -birte <http://www.caninegenius.com/> www.caninegenius.com smart toys for your dog Pet Product News " Editor's Choice Awards " winner 2005/2006 rawfood [rawfood ] On Behalf Of Judy Cozza Which blender is the best? Guest guest
The excalibur is the top line (in my opinion) but not cheap. If money is an issue and you don't have all the tools yet, then you might want to buy an " American Harvest " at Wall Mart at a fraction of the other cost and still doing a superb job. Excellent temperature control too. For a blender well, I personally only know the vitamix 5500 It is a fantastic machine that you can pick up at Costco one week every couple of month at a 40% discount. They have a booth normally for a week. I had a Bosche food processor years ago (1970s)... I loved it. That was when I got started with raw food... (It went with the husband, unfortunately) > I know Vita mix heats up your food - but does it always heat it up? If you keep on blending, the machine will heat up. Always. (I accidentally heated some flax seeds yesterday) If you just want to blend, you go at it, and when you have your result, you stop. If you want heated soup, then you go some more. When you buy your Vitamix they include at least one book (I bought mine 6 years ago, and there was one spiral bound book-- I went to a New Age expo and they were offering another book for sale which was similar but different... I don't know *exactly* what they are including with the machine now, but it will be enough for you to understand what you want to do) I just dragged out my collection of VitaMix books (from shows and from the original package), and found that everything I wanted to know was in the book included with the machine. > What are the other brands out there they you love?? I am thinking of buying a food processor. I know my VitaMix will do most things, and makes a juice that, most times, I prefer to what my Braun juicer will do (the difference is that the juicer gives you " clean juice " with no " particles " , while, with the Vitamix, you are going to get particles, which you won't notice if you include, as suggested, ice cubes -- you will experience a " slushy " juice, and won't notice the particles -- which are giving you FIBER and more vitamins) > Also there are two dehydrators that I see that everyone likes. > Excalibur and Nesco or something??? I have a new Excalibur. I have never had another dehydrator. This is my first. I decided to go with the American-made product for number of other reasons besides that it is American-made... If you order direct from the factory, you get a 10-year warranty... A number of famous places use Excaliburs. The customer service I got was UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! (the only thing I did not like was that, although they promised to send me the UPS tracking number, they did not-- nevertheless, the machine arrived ON TIME (5 business days after I ordered it!) If you get an Excalibur, I recommend you find out how many Teflex sheets they are going to include with it, and then order enough to make that number equal the number of trays in the machine you are ordering. I find the timer invaluable. If I am around, it is an easy way for me to keep track. If I am not around, the machine will cut off until I come back and give it more orders. Guest guest
I've got a k-tek and love it! Slightly cheaper than a vita-mix, too! Also, I like the excalibur. Guest guest
I live in Las Vegas, Nevada but I have heard that you can phone Costco and find out when (or maybe if) they are coming. People have told me that Costco told them the actual date etc. We have bought the vitamix 5500 and then later bought the grain grinder as well. We had the old one for 25 years. Never broke down. It was the main reason why we bought the latest machine. Guest guest
Cool! I'll have to do that. I've already got a k-tek, but I'd love to see a VitaMix in action! Never broke down. > It was the main reason why we bought the latest machine. I have a 5500. Recently I visited the VitaMix website and saw that they are now marketing a smaller blender " jar " . That was interesting. I don't know why I would need a smaller one, and I doubt I would replace the one I have unless it dies somehow. BTW, I had a BIG scare with my VitaMix on Sunday. I was trying to make some crackers, and I had soaked some flax seed and it occurred to me that I would like it better if it were in small pieces, so I put the gunk in the VitaMix. Now I know a lot about flax seeds. They nearly burned out my motor. My VitaMix just stopped and wouldn't go. Panic!!! I am 3 weeks out of my 5 year warranty! Fortunately, it was just balking at dealing with the flax seed. DONT TRY TO BLEND SOAKED FLAX SEED. Dry flax seed is okay. Margaret
