Guest guest
OK here is what I need help with. I have been mostly 98% raw since the end of January. BUT...I know I am eating too much fruit I feel great though, I now know that eating raw if for me. I just need to make some adjustments and get my vegetables up and my fruit level down. I love smoothies and don't mind making them and could eat three a day. Which is good for me, since I have not adjusted to just eating raw food in its easiest form... I want to learn about the green smoothies and the vegetable smoothies. So far I only eat fruit smoothies and I know that's where a lot of my calories etc are coming from. But now that I got through the first two months, I am ready to take the next step and really rein it in. SO... What do I use? I know there are a million different ways, but I have no idea which ones taste good together. In my whole life, I never cared for V-8 or tomato juice or vegetable juice. I have never tired carrot juice. I am thinking about getting one of those Jack LaLanne Juicers (any opinions?--he has them on big sale right now).. I have never cared for a lot of the vegetables that I see in some of these recipes and wonder how people can take the taste. I see them on the juicer commercial putting in Kale, turnips, and such and it sounds gross..... so tell me....do they make you want to gag? Do you have to choke them down? I don't expect it to be world class....but the few things I do eat during the day, I would like them to at least have some bit of taste to them. Otherwise I know I wont be able to stick to it. So I know some of you have perfected one or two green smoothies and can share some good MILD or Sweeter tasting ones...PLEASE! I think it will help me start to lose the weight if I can get more veggies in my system instead of all this fruit. I do like the following veggies, just don't know what is good together. carrots celery lettuce broccoli cauliflower onions peppers (all kinds, green and mild to hot and sweaty..LOL) love all my herbs and spices I have never been a fan of beets, squash, kale or turnips. I've never had raw spinach....so don't know about that or leeks... Most of the other stuff in the store...I have never touched...the produce section still has many many mysteries for me... Is there some powder that raw foodist use? I kept hearning about something that helped make it a green smoothie? So....throw it at me...LOL! And thanks! Guest guest
You can have a blended salad which is another name for a veggie smoothie. I haven't found a combination that I really like so I eat my salads and drink my fruit smoothies a la Victoria Boutenko style. In the morning, I usually have a smoothie of bananas, blueberries or peaches or some other fruit, and a large amount of spinach. The spinach doesn't change the taste all that much but it does give it a definite green color. I'm curious. Why do you want to cut down on the amount of fruit you are eating? On 811rv, you can eat all the fruit you want plus eat leafy greens. Onions are to be used as a condiment if at all. Broccoli and cauliflower are very hard to digest raw so I hardly ever eat them. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Sherry, One way to add green to your diet is to put in some green powders such as blue green algae, spirulina, chlorella. You can also start by gradually adding any types of greens you have available until you reach the point where it is too green for you. If you think of the colors of the rainbow and try to include all of those colors in your diet each day it will help get it into balance. If you eating mostly fruit, I agree with you that you need to add some greens. A mostly fruit diet will have a very high glycemic index which is not healthy. It will also have a lot more calories if that is of any concern to you. I don't know if you are using mostly smoothies or not but eating the fruit and veggies whole, being sure to really chew them, slows down the metabolic process and for me means that I don't need to eat as much. Guest guest
It's short for 80% carbs, 10% fat, 10% protein raw vegan. Believe it or not, a lot of people with candida do well on it! It's the simplest raw food diet to follow.
