Guest guest
Hi Pam (and everyone, kinda new here), I'm glad that you kept track of what you put in it, and thanks for sharing your concoction, it sounds very intriguing, I'm going to try it. I'm really having problems getting to where I want to be. My cooked food cravings are really hard to overcome. But I'm tired of being tired. I'm tired of feeling guilty for eating junk. And I'm tired of being overweight. I have a hubby and a 4 yr old daughter and I'm worried about them not eating enough " good for you " food too. Anyway, I'm going to try and find raw versions of the things I like and this cracker recipe will hopefully help! Now, I'm kind of a cheese addict, what can you put on raw crackers that would be kind of like cheese? I know some people don't agree with making raw versions to replace your cooked food, but I feel like it's an important transition for me, and once I get to 100% raw and stay there for a while I probably won't need the substitutes anymore and will just experiment with new raw recipes and won't care about them resembling cooked dishes. Guest guest
Welcome to the group.. Before I went raw, I had to have cheese on everything I ate....my best friend was from Wisconsin and her dad was always sending care packages...so I started to like all kinds of cheese. Now...2 months later....I could care less about cheese. As you move along down the raw trail, you will find that desires for things you HAD to have, will start to diminish... We actually went out for dinner last night for my hubby's b-day and he wanted Mexican so I was a good sport and didn't complain. Lo- and Behold, they had lettuce wraps on the menu (yeah) So...it came with some grilled chicken, and piles of peppers, lettuce and avocado chunks...and a pile of cheese. I actually....with a little touch of will power (hey its only been two months) I was able to give my husband all of the shredded cheese and 3/4 of the chicken...and I had a great meal out of what was left... 2 months ago...I would have ordered the deep fried tacos and would have asked for extra cheese and wouldn't have shared it. So don't expect to be instantly raw. Especially when you have a family...give yourself a chance to go through some transitioning and remember, every healthy meal you eat...is one less bad one you have to feel guilty about! You can only tackle it one day at a time, so go steady and easy and don't expect to give up your cheese over night (even thought you should...but that's another story).... Good Luck! Guest guest
Debra, What Sherry says is true. You'll lose your taste for not so good for you foods (though I'm still battling too much salt and olive oil and it's been almost nine months). In the meantime, you can still have a pale imitation of cheese by blending 1 C raw cashews, 1/4 of a medium orange sweet pepper, one tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp salt, the juice of 1/2 lemon, and water to not quite cover the nuts until smooth. You can adjust the seasonings up or down (to adjust down, put in some more cashews). It's good on turnip " pasta " , too. Good luck! Guest guest
Peace Debra - I've been raw for 5 months and I think part of the transition is replacing cooked food w/ raw versions, I think everybody hopes to be in that place where just eating an apple is enough ( or whatever food you like), but until then we prepare these elaborate meals to make us feel like were " cooking " , and my personal opinion on that is that is part of the process...and you may do that forever and thats cool, or you may get to a place where you eat only whole unprepared food and thats cool too... I make a cheesyish (lol)spread and its soaked and blended almonds, olive oil, lemon juice, celtic salt and tomato...its pretty damn good. hope that helps Faatma Debra <jube333 wrote: Hi Pam (and everyone, kinda new here), I'm glad that you kept track of what you put in it, and thanks for sharing your concoction, it sounds very intriguing, I'm going to try it.
