Guest guest
Since you were the first to ask, For five days, I'll be having green smoothies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with fruits and veggies thrown in for " condiments " . I'll be consuming anywhere from half a gallon to a gallon of green smoothies per day. There are two purposes for this cleanse: 1- To experience the full power of green smoothies, give my digestion a rest, detoxify, release some weight, and experience more energy, and get in control of my eating habits. 2- To take this time to clear my space, get more things done than usual and get back on track with my lifestyle habits and goal setting. I'll be preparing for it tomorrow and Sunday and start it on Monday. I'm going to take my VitaMix to work with me. My Cuisinart SmartStick that I keep in my desk drawer there isn't powerful enough to blend greens. To Green Power! Guest guest
Spinach tastes the best of anything in a green smoothie but it has oxalic acid so it isn't advised to eat it in the quantities that other greens can be eaten. My favorite green smoothie is three or four medium bananas, 1/4 to 1/2 cup blueberries, three cups spinach, plus enough water to blend. If you are in the low fruit camp, you can make a blended salad. This is one example from the book The Green Revolution Recipe Guide. Blended Salad for One 1 tomato 1 cup peeled cucumber 3 cups baby greens mix Juice of 1/2 lemon 1/2 red bell pepper 1/2 avocado 1-2 stalks celery celery salt to taste (I'll post the instructions for that, too) Blend the tomato, cucumber and lemon juice first, until the mixture is liquid. Add in red bell pepper, baby greens, and avocado progressively, pushing with the celery stalks until the entire mixture is blended. Add in the " celery salt " to taste, or any other favorite seasoning. For the " celery salt " , chop celery and dehydrate until dry. Grind in a spice mill or coffee grinder. One thing that's important to remember is that green smoothies use all fresh ingredients. Enjoy!
